One of the most popular genres in modern literature can be considered fantasy. The action of novels written in this genre, as a rule, takes place in a fictional world inhabited by various supernatural beings and in its surroundings and device reminiscent of the Middle Ages.
According to art critics and writers, modern fantasy is based on various epics, ancient legends and myths - for example, the well-known legend about King Arthur and his sword imprisoned in stone.
However, the genre itself was formed relatively recently - at the beginning of the last century, when such works as “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “The Daughter of the King of Elflandia”, “Conan” and others appeared. At the moment, these works are considered fantasy classics.
Among the Russian authors there are also many who contributed to this genre. Among them is Alexander Zorich, whose most popular novel is The Escort Group.
Biography
Alexander Vladimirovich Zorich is not the name of a specific writer, but a creative pseudonym under which two authors work: Yana Vladimirovna Botsman and Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Gordevsky.
Yana Botsman was born on August 7, 1973 in Kharkov. She graduated from a local university, having received two higher educations in the field of applied mathematics and philosophy.
Dmitry Gordevsky was born on March 21, 1973, also in Kharkov. He was educated at the same Kharkov State University, graduating from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and later receiving a diploma in philosophy.
Gordevsky and Boatswain have known each other since childhood: they were neighbors, went to the same school, worked at the same department at the university. The idea to create a creative duet came in 1991 - it was then that the pseudonym Alexander Zorich appeared.
The first Halloween story was released in 1992, but was published under a different name. Zorich’s most popular novel, Escort Group, was released in 2011. The book was included in the STALKER series.
"Escort Group"
The novel was co-written with Dmitry Volodikhin and was published by AST.
The protagonist of the book “Escort Group” is a young stalker named Tim, who first appeared in the Zone. He finds himself in a difficult situation, but thanks to his own luck, as well as the help of an experienced stalker who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, he comes out safe and sound.
However, not all so simple. An abstract for the novel “Escort Group” states that Tim’s task is to complete an important task in the squad. Will the hero cope with this when only the Zone and the dangerous mutants inhabiting it are around it?
Readers describe the Escort Group as “not quite a typical action movie about stalkers.” They celebrate an interesting protagonist with convincing motivation, as well as a fascinating story. The novel "Escort Group" will be of interest to both long-time fans of the series and those who are unfamiliar with it.
Other novels
A novel about stalkers is only a small part of the work of Boatswain and Gordevsky. In addition to the “Escort Group” Zorich owns dozens of other fantastic works.
Especially popular is the dilogy of Somnambulism, which is part of the Ethnogenesis series. The cycle talks about the relatively near future. Matvey Gumilev, having graduated from the Cosmoflot lunar academy, enters the service in the Bellona brigade, whose main task is to fight against interplanetary criminals.
