"Isoprinosine" for children is an immunostimulating agent, available in the form of elongated white tablets. They have a biconvex shape, a strip on one side and a slight amine smell.

Isoprinosine for children not only stimulates the immune system, but also has an antiviral effect. The use of this drug helps to restore the function of lymphocytes in conditions when the body is in immunodepression, blastogenesis in monocytic cells also increases, the expression of membrane receptors on the surface of T-helpers is stimulated, the weakening of the activity of lymphocytic cells is not allowed, the inclusion of thymidine in them is normalized. The use of isoprinosine also stimulates the activity of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and natural killers.

Isoprinosine for children shows in vivo antiviral activity against Herpes simplex viruses, measles virus and cytomegalovirus, type III T-cell lymphoma virus, influenza A and B, polioviruses, ECHO virus, equine encephalitis and encephalomyocarditis. The antiviral effect of the drug is provided by the inhibition of viral RNA and the enzyme dihydropteroate synthetase, which is involved in the replication of certain viruses. Thus, there is an increase in the suppression of RNA synthesis of lymphocytes by viruses, and this in turn inhibits the translation of viral proteins and the biosynthesis of viral RNA, and the production of lymphocytes, which possess the antiviral properties of gamma and alpha interferons, is increased.
