NDC (neurocirculatory dystonia) is a functional disorder in the work of the cardiovascular system of a neurogenic nature. It is based on changes in neuroendocrine regulation, causing the appearance of various clinical symptoms, which become more pronounced under the influence of stresses.
I must say that this disease has a benign course and even with a prolonged course does not lead to structural disorders of the internal organs.
The following types of NDC are distinguished:
⢠cardiac - includes arrhythmic and cardialgic species;
⢠hypertensive;
⢠antihypertensive;
⢠mixed.
The latter type of disease is characterized by cardiac neurosis, which is combined with changes in vascular tone (hypotension or transient hypertension).
Risk factors for the appearance of neurocirculatory dystonia:
⢠heredity;
⢠acute or chronic stress;
⢠overwork (both physical and mental);
⢠chronic infections of the nasopharynx;
⢠history of head injuries;
⢠chronic damage to internal organs;
⢠endocrine pathologies and hormonal disruptions;
⢠allergic diseases;
⢠low level of body immune defense;
⢠smoking;
⢠work at the computer.
Mixed type NDC: clinical manifestations
This type of disease is manifested by symptoms that are characteristic of other types of neurocirculatory dystonia. The clinic distinguishes cardialgic syndrome, characterized by pain in the heart and occurring after physical exertion. If cardialgia is accompanied by hypertonicity of the sympathetic nervous system, then patients are restless, pale, complain of palpitations and high blood pressure, chills and fever. Mixed type NDC, which proceeds with activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, is manifested by bradycardia and low blood pressure, hyperemia of the face. It is worth noting that heart pain with NDC is poorly relieved by nitroglycerin or validol, but it disappears after taking analgesics.
With this disease, a respiratory syndrome can also be observed, in which occasionally patients feel a lack of air, complain of dizziness, as well as frequent and shallow breathing. In addition, asthenic manifestations are recorded. Patients experience constant weakness, their coordination of movements is disturbed , their mood worsens, memory and attention decrease. Headaches, temporary visual impairment, tinnitus, and cold extremities may also bother you. Subfebrile temperature is sometimes observed. It is worth noting that mixed-type NDC can occur with vegetative crises, which often suddenly occur at night when the patient is sleeping.
Diagnostics
To confirm the presence of neurocirculatory dystonia, all diseases of an organic nature that may have a similar clinical picture should be excluded. Sometimes the diagnosis of NDC is made according to the results of ECG tests with hyperventilation and dosed physical activity or when the ECG changes after the patient has been given beta-blockers or potassium chloride.
Treatment of NDC should begin with the normalization of the regime of work and rest, abandonment of bad habits and the organization of a balanced diet. A mixed type of NDC requires an integrated approach to treatment using appropriate medications, physiotherapy, physiotherapy and traditional medicine.
