According to the instructions, Xymelin is a clear, colorless liquid. The manufacturer produces in the following pharmacological forms:

  1. A spray intended for nasal use in children, having a dosage of the active component of 0.05%. The product is packaged in dark bottles made of glass. Each bottle contains 10 ml of medicine, has a tip and a protective cap.
  2. A spray intended for nasal use in adults, having a dosage of the active component of 0.1%. The product is packaged in dark bottles made of dark glass, each of which can contain 10 ml or 15 ml of the medicine. Each bottle is also equipped with a tip and a special protective cap.
  3. Ximelin drops according to the instructions are intended for nasal use in children with dosages of the main component of 0.05%, for nasal use in adults - 0.1%. Drops are packed in dark dropper bottles, each of which has a volume of 10 ml.

Indications for use

As indicated by the instruction, Xymelin spray and drops are indicated for use in the following cases:

  1. If the patient has signs of acute respiratory infections, which is accompanied by difficulty breathing, redness of the surface of the mucous membrane in the nose, its swelling, severe runny nose (for example, sinusitis or various etymologies of rhinitis).

Contraindications

In accordance with the instructions, Xymelin in any form should not be used by patients:

  1. With angle-closure glaucoma.
  2. With increased intraocular pressure.
  3. Under the age of 2 years.
  4. In the presence of individual hypersensitivity to any of the components that make up the drug.

  6. In the presence of atrophic rhinitis.

Experts do not recommend the use of Xymelin in combination with tricyclic antidepressants and iMAO drugs because of the likelihood of a sharp increase in blood pressure.
