Every third person suffers from diseases of the musculoskeletal system, only a small part of them turn to the therapist because of the disturbing pain in the joints, the causes of which can be completely different. In frequent cases, the pains are so severe that the painkillers do not have any effect on them. This may be due to advanced injuries, the presence of an inflammatory process or joint diseases such as arthritis or bursitis. At the same time, about 85% of people experienced severe joint pain in any period of their life, of which more than half were accounted for by more than 60 years of age. Recently, joint diseases have also spread to young people due to primary or secondary joint damage. As a result of past diseases, the metabolic products decay, which causes various types of intoxication of the body. So, with the transfer of purulent arthritis, about 40% of people permanently lose joint mobility.
It should be noted that the causes of joint pain are different, depending on the type of human disease. Thus, diseases are divided into inflammatory and metabolic-dystrophic diseases, as well as pathologies of the joints that were formed due to injuries and pathologies of the entire musculoskeletal system.
Inflammatory joint diseases :
1. Arthritis (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis). This disease is the most common in terms of the appearance of pain in the joints, the reasons for which lie in the destruction of the cartilage of the joint, as a result of which the bones begin to rub together. In this case, an inflammatory process occurs, human mobility is limited. Arthritis occurs most often in people over the age of 45 years, the disease shows its first signs and slowly develops. The disease has hereditary prerequisites and affects not only large, but also small joints, for example, feet and hands.
2. Bursitis. With this disease, the articular bag is affected, so pain in the joints occurs, accompanied by an inflammatory process. More often this disease affects the shoulder, knee and hip joints.
Exchange-dystrophic diseases of the joints:
1. Gout. The disease is expressed in the appearance of pain, an inflammatory process that causes redness in the joints, most often the feet. Gout is associated with increased production of uric acid in the human body due to a decrease in kidney function, therefore this disease develops most often in people over the age of fifty.
2. Arthrosis. A disease of the cartilage of the joint occurs due to the occurrence of degenerative processes in it, as a result of which the surface of the bones is deformed.
3. Necrosis. The disease causes pain in the joints, the causes of which lie in insufficient blood supply to the bone, as a result of which the joint is deformed.
Joint pathology due to injuries:
1. Damage to the cartilage of the joint. This pathology is most often observed in the knee joint, and is associated with damage to the cartilage as a result of a large load or sudden movements. In this case, a person experiences pain and discomfort in the joint.
2. Dislocation of the joint. As a result of the loss of resistance between the bone head and ligaments, a joint dislocation occurs, which can be either partial or complete. In this case, pain in the joint can be accompanied by the appearance of edema, an increase in the temperature of the damaged part of the human body. It should be borne in mind that sometimes it is not possible to relieve joint pain on one's own, therefore it is recommended to consult a doctor.
Therefore, it must be remembered that approximately 10% of people who have joint diseases die. If there is pain in the joints, the causes of which can only be determined by a specialist, you must contact the clinic for a diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis of joint disease must be approached carefully, to prescribe a comprehensive treatment according to the results of numerous examinations.
