The first film of the famous franchise about dinosaurs, the creation of which was not involved Stephen Spielberg, is "Jurassic Park 3". The actors of the third part are mainly represented by new characters. In contrast to the first two films, which deserved not only an Oscar nomination, but also the treasured figurine itself, this film was less recognized and even “lit up” at the Golden Raspberry awards ceremony. However, contrary to critics, the audience received him warmly enough. According to statistics, 49% of the audience rated his film as the best.
Plot of the film
The adventure film "Jurassic Park 3" (actors and roles - hereinafter referred to as the text) again brings the viewer with the learned paleontologist Alan Grant. This time he accepts the offer of the rich man Paul Kirby and his wife to make a sightseeing trip to the infamous island of Sorna, he takes with him an assistant Billy. However, the true purpose of the dangerous walk is unknown to him. Having landed on the island, the team is almost immediately attacked by a spinosaurus, which causes the plane to crash and, as a result, completely cuts off their way home.
Several years have passed since the events of previous films, and dinosaurs not only survived, but populated the island, became smarter, more cunning and even more dangerous.
Actors and roles in the movie Jurassic Park 3: Alan Grant
From the initial composition, the viewer will only meet with paleontologist Alan Grant. Being fanatically devoted to his work, he is ready to sacrifice everything for it and even endanger his own life. His role was played by the famous New Zealand actor Sam Nill, among whose recent works the series "Sharp Visors". Before starting work in the first part of the franchise, he consulted with paleontologist D. Horner. The stars of the movie screen are famous for their unusual conditions and requests, in this regard, the actors of Jurassic Park 3 are no exception. An interesting fact is that one of the requirements that S. Nill reflected in the contract is the premiere screening of the film in Oceania and Australia in his hometown.
Paul and Amanda Kirby
A married couple who, in fact, “dragged” the paleontologist again to the island with dinosaurs. Under the pretext of an innocent excursion, they secretly go in search of the missing son Eric (actor Trevor Morgan). To do this, they have mercenaries led by Youdeski, it was he who recommended the paleontologist as a guide in order to better navigate the place. Only the team’s problem is that they don’t get to the island they were planning on. Actors "Jurassic Park 3" who performed the roles - William Macy and Thea Leoni. The first one was familiar to the audience on the film "Real Boars", as well as participation in the "Fargo" project, for which he was nominated for an Oscar. It is no secret that many actors, in order to better perform certain tricks, refuse stuntmen, understudies, pursuing various goals - rating, fame, naturalness of filming. The film "Jurassic Park 3", whose actors mainly worked with dinosaurs created on a computer, is no exception. For example, Tea Leoni admitted that she injured herself in a scene with a spinosaurus that attacks her in the water.
Dinosaurs in the movie
The incarnation on the screen of the Jurassic world was mainly done by Stan Winston - a masterly American master of technical and visual special effects. He participated in making films from the very first part. Then the creation of the first eight dinosaurs took a whole year. Work is the pinnacle of computer animation. The doll of the most formidable carnivorous dinosaur was made in full size and stood 7 meters above the set, it was even longer in length - 12 meters. It is worth noting that all the dinosaurs he created were also actors in some way. Jurassic Park 3 is a film in which the roles of dinosaurs are as significant as humans. The tyrannosaurus was made from oily clay, the individual parts were cast using epoxy, and the skin was created from foam rubber. Ready-made elements were assembled on a metal frame, which was controlled using hydraulic pistons and cylinders.
Raptors and Spinosaurus
Negative characters among reptiles are raptors. Life-size dolls recreate them on the screen. Two models were controlled by remote control, however, for close-ups requiring maximum naturalness, the role of the dinosaur in the first part of the franchise was played by the actors. Jurassic Park 3 features the largest of the animatronic models created. The spinosaurus (pictured) was fully hydraulically controlled and weighed 12 tons. Modern technology made it possible to control it even when completely immersed in water. The battle between the water giant and the tyrannosaurus depicted in the film in reality could not occur due to the fact that they lived on different continents and at different times.
Where did the shooting take place?
To shoot the third part of the film, its creators decided to return to Hawaii, or rather, to the fifth largest island of the tropical archipelago (Molokai). Picturesque mountains, shrouded in the wilds of tropical forests, are the best suited as a home for ancient reptiles. Many scenes in which the actors of the movie "Jurassic Park 3" travel in the jungle were filmed on the most ancient island - Kauai. Its diverse relief includes beautiful waterfalls and rivers, mountainous regions and dense forests. At the end of the film, when Grant and the survivors head along the Wailua River, you can see a reference to the first part of the franchise, in the background is a breathtaking panoramic view where the dinosaurs grazed, which the paleontologist once saw for the first time, graze. Of course, there were some pavilion shootings, which were then supplemented by computer graphics.
