Newcomers often dream of learning to play some of their favorite songs to amuse themselves and friends. Someone decides to learn how to play seriously, but does not always know where to start. To masterly play the guitar, of course, you need to learn notes, solfeggio and other useful things. But if you do not grab the stars from the sky, then for a start it will be enough to learn a dozen chords and train.
Guitar fight is a way of extracting sound from a guitar by sweeping strokes with your playing hand on strings. More often than not, this is the right hand, and the left musician goes through chords, thereby obtaining a melody. Professionals do not use this term, in these circles fights for a guitar are called rhythmic drawings, or "rasgeado".
For the game to play properly, the musician must have developed a sense of rhythm, but it does not come right away. Inexperienced players constantly speed up, then slow down, which, as you know, does not sound completely correct. Therefore, beginners are advised to tap the beat with their foot or use the metronome. This simple device can be purchased at a music store.
Basically, a guitar fight is applicable to acoustic devices with accompaniment to singing or other solo instrument. In mastering it is not so complicated. The main thing is to remember the sequence of strokes on the strings and alternating them with pauses. Along the way, the second hand changes the chords.
You can perform songs of any direction with a guitar fight, it all depends on your preferences and your skill level. They can be different - from the simplest ones, which we will consider a little lower, to the inconceivably complex in terms of scheme and game speed. In principle, every guitarist can boast of at least one battle invented by him or mastered independently.
Now we will analyze the basic simple ways of playing. When a guitar fight is depicted in diagrams and tablatures (hereinafter tabs), the direction of striking the strings is indicated by such arrows or checkmarks:
- ↑ - indicates a blow up the strings - from the first (thinnest) to the sixth, but only in amateur schemes;
- ↓ - accordingly designates a blow in the opposite direction;
- x - this sign is placed in addition to the above, which means performing a blow to the strings with muting their sound either with the edge or the inside of the palm. If you saw this symbol in professional tabs opposite a specific string, this means that its sound must be muffled, or the sound is not extracted from it at all when struck;
- + - this sign, like the previous one, means muting the sound, but not with the edge of the palm, but with the thumb of the hand.
I also want to note that, unlike amateur game patterns, professional tabs have the opposite designation of the direction of impact on the strings, i.e. an arrow pointing up indicates the direction of impact from the sixth to the first string, and, accordingly, vice versa. Further we will designate a guitar fight, as professionals. So let's get started.
The first type of guitar battle looks like this: ↑↑↑ ↓ ↑. This is one of the simplest options. Three hits down, one up and down again. The distance between the arrows also matters: the larger it is, the longer the time interval between strokes.
The following guitar fight should not be difficult for anyone: ↑ ↓ ↑ ↓ ↑. It is played simply, but it sounds somehow plain. Here we can turn on the fantasy and embellish this guitar fight by muffling the strings. It turns out the following: ↑ ↓ ↑ x ↑ ↓ ↑ x ↑ ↓ ↑ x or ↑ ↓ ↑ + ↑ ↓ ↑ + ↑ ↓ ↑ +. That is, every third blow we muffle. How? This is up to you to your liking.
And the last to describe the battle more difficult: ↑↑↑ ↓↓ ↑↑. It should be mastered after the first two.
In the end, I would like to say a few words about the sound extraction technique. You can hit the strings with all your fingers, while tearing your palm off the instrument body, or with one or several fingers. When you strike, do not strain the brush very much, but it should not be soft either. At first, playing is better without taking your hands off the guitar body, because your fingers will cling to the strings, and some of them will sound louder, which is not always good.
