Tussin Plus is an expectorant, antitussive drug. It well dilutes the accumulated sputum and contributes to its exit from the respiratory tract. Also, this drug reduces the excitability of the cough center, due to which the cough decreases.
This drug is used during a respiratory disease that is accompanied by a cough. These are bronchitis, tracheitis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary tuberculosis , cystic fibrosis, pneumonia and ODS.
Tussin Plus, composition: five milliliters of the drug contain active substances such as guaifenesin (one hundred milligrams) and dextromethorphan hydrobromide (ten milligrams). It also contains excipients: cherry supplement, citric acid, corn syrup, glycerin, menthol, benzoate and sodium saccharin, purified water and dye.
It looks like a red liquid with a slight smell and taste of cherries.
"Guaifenesin" is a mucolytic agent that stimulates the cells of the mucous membrane in the bronchi, which produce neutral polysaccharides. At the same time, it depolymerizes acid mucopolysaccharides, makes it productive from an unproductive cough, increases the volume and reduces the viscosity of sputum, which makes its removal easier.
Dextromethorphan is a good antitussive drug similar to codeine. It does not have analgesic, hypnotic and narcotic effects. Suppresses cough of any origin.
Before using Tussin, the instructions should be carefully studied. Children need to drink two teaspoons every four hours. Those under the age of twelve but older than six should drink one teaspoon every four hours. From two to six years - half a teaspoon.
Contraindications: those who have a cough with a lot of sputum removed should not drink Tussin Plus. Also, people who have hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the drug, severe diseases of the central nervous system, peptic ulcer of the duodenum or stomach. Nursing mothers, pregnant women and children under two years of age are also contraindicated in this drug.
Side effects: it can be vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastralgia, drowsiness, headache, dizziness. If you are allergic to any ingredient, a skin rash or hives may appear.
Tussin Plus, like any medicine, can be taken only after consulting a doctor. During the course of treatment you need to drink as much water as possible. During use, urine may turn pink, but there is nothing to worry about.

If you take the medicine without a doctorβs prescription, an overdose is possible. In this case, you will experience dizziness, impaired consciousness, difficulty breathing, tachycardia, and so on. To recover, you need to do a gastric lavage and start drinking activated charcoal. Symptomatic therapy is also needed. In severe cases, mechanical ventilation is required.
Store the drug at a temperature not exceeding fifteen degrees. Do not store in the refrigerator. Also need to be protected from children. Shelf life is three years.
