The drug "Retinol acetate" instruction refers to the pharmacotherapeutic group of vitamins. The tool helps to fill the lack of vitamin A.

Tablets and Retinol Acetate solution contribute to the activation of redox processes, take part in the normalization of metabolism, and create favorable conditions for ATP synthesis. The drug stimulates the epithelialization process, prevents hyperkeratosis (excessive keratinization of the epithelium). In addition, the tool normalizes the activity of sweat and sebaceous glands.

With oral administration, the drug is almost completely absorbed from the digestive system. Metabolic products (retinoic acid, retinal, retinol and retinyl palmitate) are distributed unevenly across organs and tissues. The highest concentration is observed in the retina and liver. A smaller amount is found in the adrenal glands, mammary gland (lactating), lungs, fat depots, heart, and kidneys.

For moderate and mild vitamin deficiencies, the therapeutic dosage is prescribed as follows: for adults - up to 33,000 IU per day, with retinitis pigmentosa, xerophthalmia, hemeralopia - 50,000 to 100,000 IU. The dosage for children is set in accordance with the age of 1000 to 5000 IU per day.

With skin pathologies, adults are recommended 50 to 100 thousand IU, for children from 5 to 20 thousand IU per day.

The dosage at one time should not exceed 50 thousand IU (in adults) and 5 thousand IU (in children). A day is not allowed to take more than 100 thousand IU for adults and 20 thousand IU for children.

When using the drug "Retinol acetate" in elevated doses, a teratogenic effect is noted, which persists after its cancellation. In this regard, pregnancy can be planned only six to twelve months after the end of the therapeutic course.

When using the drug "Retinol acetate" there are some negative consequences. Drowsiness, fever, vomiting, lethargy, nausea, headache may occur. In some cases, gait disturbance, soreness of the legs, and peeling of the skin are observed. When taking high doses, hypervitaminosis is likely. Retinol Acetate in children can provoke an increase in pressure in the cerebrospinal fluid (protrusion of the fontanel and hydrocephalus may occur in infants), skin rashes, vomiting, sweating, and possibly an increase in temperature. When reducing the dosage or temporarily discontinuing the drug "Retinol acetate" side effects, as a rule, are eliminated independently.

The drug is contraindicated in pregnant women (in the first trimester of gestation), with gallstone disease, hypersensitivity, chronic pancreatitis.
