Eldor Urazbaev was born on October 11, 1940 in the capital of the Uzbek SSR - the city of Tashkent. After graduating from high school, he entered Moscow State University, in 1963 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of this university. Soon, the young man realized that he was mistaken in choosing a profession, he had a desire to try himself in the field of cinema. Then Eldor Urazbaev went to Alma-Ata and began working at the Kazakhfilm film studio as an assistant director in the group of S. Aimanov already known for his works. After the tragic death of the latter, Eldor in 1972 entered the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors in Moscow. There Urazbaev was lucky to become a student of such recognized masters of Soviet cinema as A.A. Alov and V.N. Naumov.

"Trans-Siberian Express"

The first independent work of Urazbayev was a picture, which is a continuation of the last film of Sh. Aimanov about the Chekist Chadyarov. The script for the film "Trans-Siberian Express" was written by A. Adabashyan and N. Mikhalkov, with the participation of A. Konchalovsky.

The picture presented the real events of 1927, when the Chekists managed to prevent the murder of the Japanese businessman Saito. The entrepreneur followed the Trans-Siberian express to the capital with the intention of starting negotiations on trade with the USSR, and the provocation was planned by foreign intelligence.

The picture is also noteworthy in that one of the supporting roles was played by Natalia Arinbasarova, who at that time was still officially married to Nikolai Dvigubsky, from whom she gave birth to a daughter, Ekaterina.

In 1978, the film "Trans-Siberian Express" received a special jury prize at the 11th All-Union Film Festival in Yerevan.

In 1979, Urazbaev Eldor Magomatovich resigned from the Kazakhfilm studio and moved to TsKDYuF im. M. Gorky. His first works after moving to the capital were the paintings “Tailcoat for a Sloop” and “Inspector of the Traffic Police” with Oleg Efremov.

“Visit to the Minotaur”

Although the director and actress have known each other since filming the Trans-Siberian Express, they only entered into marriage in 1982. By this time, Natalia divorced Nikolai Dvigubsky, who went to live in France.

After the death of her third spouse, Natalya herself noted that he helped her in her work, and she respected his children from her first marriage and even considered his grandchildren to be her own.

In 1995, the director was elected a member of the board of the Gorky film studio, and in 1998 he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation.

Since the early 2000s, Urazbayev tried his hand at creating TV shows, as he had the experience of such work, gained back in the Soviet period, when this type of cinema art was new. After a divorce from Natalia Arinbasarova, initiated by the actress, Eldor Urazbaev got married again and left for the United States. There he lived and was treated for a serious illness in Denver. The director died in 2012 at the age of 71.
