Titles and awards generously poured on the husband and wife. Success did not prevent Lyudmila and Vyacheslav from remaining an affable and modest couple. The couple did not even want to move from the apartment, which they got in 1957.

Last years
In the 90s, Shagalova lost her sight. The actress still considered herself a happy person. She worried only because she no longer saw the faces of her loved ones. The husband touchingly cared for her.
In total, Lyudmila and Vyacheslav lived together for about 66 years. Shumsky was the first to die, and a year later Shagalova followed him. The actress died in 2012 ode.
