Childhood and youth
The future director was born in 1921 in Moscow. His early years passed in the area of Krasnaya Presnya. Parents were educated, intelligent people and loved the theater.
Director Sergei Kolosov all his life recalled how once, as a boy, accidentally ended up on the set of the movie "Outskirts". In this picture, the debut role was played by Nikolai Kryuchkov. Then, in the beginning of the 30s, Seryozha Kolosov, admiringly watching the work of the director and actors, could not even think that he would someday create the cinema himself.
He was a boy from a prosperous family, but he studied at school with homeless children. It was one of the social experiments of the Soviet government. Perhaps not the most successful. Every day homeless children took breakfast from intelligent families from boys. They were not hungry, they did it for fun. Around this time, the future director watched "A ticket to life", and this film made a lasting impression on him.
After receiving a certificate of maturity, Sergey Kolosov entered GITIS. However, the Finnish War prevented their studies. He went to the front, was wounded, spent several months in the hospital. And soon the Great Patriotic War began.
Lyudmila Kasatkina
Sergey Kolosov returned to GITIS only in 1946. It was then that he met his future wife.
It is impossible not to recall Lyudmila Kasatkina, setting out the basic facts from the biography of Sergei Kolosov. The personal life of the artists is often stormy. They say they are not capable of creating a strong family. Indeed, in domestic cinema there are few examples of strong alliances. One of the few is Kolosov and Kasatkina. They lived together for more than half a century.
Lyudmila Kasatkina was born in a small village near Vyazma. In Moscow, her family fled from dispossession. Lyudmila from an early age dreamed of becoming a ballerina, up to 14 years she spent several hours a day at the machine tool.
Once a girl passed out right on stage. She was found to have anemia. I had to forget about ballet, and Kasatkina decided to become an actress. She entered GITIS, where in 1946 she met with young lieutenant Sergei Kolosov. Their first meeting took place on May 15 - the birthday of Lyudmila. A few years later they got married. And in 1958 a son was born. Alexey Kolosov is a famous jazz musician.
Kolosov and Kasatkina had a lot of joint work in the theater and in the cinema. One of the most dramatic stories is related to the movie Remember Your Name. This happened in Poland. During the filming of the scene in a concentration camp, the German shepherd attacked the actress. The bites were very deep, Kasatkina needed treatment. But she spent only one day in the hospital. In the morning, Lyudmila Ivanovna returned to the set - she was afraid to let her husband down, not to justify his trust.

Sergei Kolosov was very fond of history and classical literature. Many of his works are costumed films. Some are dedicated to certain historical events. Others are based on the works of great classics.

In 1937, the theater of the Soviet Army premiered the play by Alexy Popov. It was on the basis of this production that, after 20 years, his student, Sergei Kolosov, made a film in which Lyudmila Kasatkina played the main role.
The film was played by Vladimir Zeldin, Sergey Kulagin and other actors known at that time. Lyudmila Kasatkina was awarded a prize at the Monte Carlo Film Festival.

The death of Sergei Kolosov
The director died on February 11, 2012. He died of a stroke. And ten days later his wife passed away.
Kolosov and Kasatkina are buried in the Novodevichy cemetery.
