If a muscle begins to contract sharply and quickly, then a moment can come at which a muscle break occurs. However, there are some diseases during which the muscles undergo a pathological change, which leads to their damage even with a small load. There are partial or complete muscle rupture. In the first case, its integrity is violated, and in the second, the muscle breaks completely to its entire thickness.
If such a nuisance occurs, then the person immediately feels severe pain at the site of injury. In addition, there is a strong internal hemorrhage, swelling at the place of rupture, and the limb ceases to function normally.
If a person felt severe pain in the place where the tendon is attached to the bone, but neither bruises nor swelling appeared on the skin, then this is most likely a partial rupture of the muscle (tendon). It is not worth worrying about this injury, as it is considered mild.
If sharp pain occurs and the mobility of the limb decreases, then this injury refers to moderate severity. However, if both pain and deformation of the skin occur, on which bruises and ugly swellings appear, and the leg or arm are immobilized almost immediately, then this muscle rupture is one of the most severe, as the tendon is completely detached from the bone.
The muscles of the upper and lower extremities are most often affected by such troubles. In particular, if in the process of training to give the legs a large and excessive load, or to start training without proper warm-up, then often in this case there is a rupture of the thigh muscle.
At such moments, severe pain suddenly appears in the back of the leg, which intensifies when walking or while running. Often, bruises and swelling appear at the site of damage. In the event of such symptoms, the affected muscle group should be relieved of stress. During the week, injections of painkillers, as well as taking anti-inflammatory drugs, can help. In some cases, after a course of such injections, the pain can significantly decrease, so you can slowly give a small load to these muscle groups. If the pain persists, then you should consult a doctor, because surgery may even be necessary.
A rupture of the shoulder muscle is usually obtained with a sharp contraction of the biceps muscle, which is in tension. The reasons for this can serve as attempts to support a heavy object falling from above, and dystrophic processes that are caused by small microtraumas. As a rule, the latter case is often observed in men aged 40-50 years.
Such an injury is usually accompanied by a characteristic crack with which the head of the biceps is torn. In some cases, it can also be damaged by a fracture of the shoulder bone, or when it is dislocated.
If there is a gap, then first of all, the limb should be fixed in a stationary state. This can be done with a plaster cast. The injured person should usually wear it for about a month. But after removing the plaster, treatment procedures such as massage and physical therapy begin.
In any case, with severe injuries, a person loses working capacity for 2-3 months. But even after recovery, a full load can be given to a damaged limb only after 4-5 months, when the biceps head is completely restored.
In especially severe cases, surgery is performed. However, arthroscopy is necessarily performed in front of him, consisting in examining the joints and muscles of the shoulder with a special video camera, which is inserted into a small incision in the hand. And if the diagnosis is confirmed, then under local or general anesthesia surgery is performed
