Gorky Park Group - Soviet Legend

bitter park group composition
The Gorky Park group was created thanks to the Stas Namin Center in 1987. This was a kind of attempt to "promote" the Russian group using Western methods, so that it thundered abroad and at the same time glorify and spread the news of the wonderful "sickle-hammer" country. To fulfill this lofty goal, the best musicians were selected. They were Nikolai Noskov and Alexey Belov (vocals and guitar) - former soloists of the Moscow group. The group also boasted such members as Yan Yanenkov and Alexander Minkov (aka Alexander Marshal) - guitar and bass, former members of the Flowers group. The former soloist of the Aria group Alexander Lvov also moved here and began to beat rhythms now in the Gorky Park group. The composition of the group, as you see, is very good.

For the first time, the group showed itself to the world at a festival called "Musicians for Peace", which was organized by the Stas Namin Center. This debut took place in May 1988. After that, the Gorky Park group accompanied the world-famous Scorpions in their concerts in Leningrad. In 1989, in August, another high-profile performance of the group took place in the Luzhniki Stadium, at the Moscow International Festival of Peace, which was also attended by many world celebrities. And organized this festival ... who we could think ... Stas Namin Center.

In the fall of 1989, the first album was released, which was released by the rock group "Gorky Park". Songs from this album were listened to in many countries, and the video clip of one of the songs from this disc ("Bang! Bang!") Ended up in TOP 15 MTV. In total, more than a million records were sold.

The second album, which was released by the Gorky Park group (Moscow Arouses), was no less delighted. It was released in 1992 and was represented by various companies in many countries of the world. Together with the Gorky Park group, many well-known American performers recorded records. For example, the first record was recorded with the participation of John Bon Jovi, as well as the musicians of his group. Duzil Zappa, Richard Marx, as well as a saxophonist, a member of the Pink Floyd concert band, Skate Page, participated in the creation of the second album.

However, with the release of the second album, the group lost one of its members - Nikolai Noskov. He was replaced by Nikolai Kuzminykh, who once played in the Moscow group along with Alexei Belov.

The return of the group to their homeland took place in 1994, and already in 1995 a long-term tour was organized in the cities of Russia. The inhabitants of the capital reacted calmly to the famous group, but in the province there was nowhere to push through the number of people who wanted to see the world-famous countrymen.

1996 was the year of the release of the third album, entitled "Stare". By recording, it was heard that the music of the group became much more complicated. A symphony orchestra participated in the recording of the third album of Gorky Park. In addition, Alan Holdsworth (the famous American guitarist) and Ron Powell (one of the best percussionists in the world) took part in the recording process.

At concerts, musicians often performed, dressing up in stage pseudo-folk costumes (trousers, braids), holding balalaika guitars in their hands, and waving American and Soviet flags.

Alexander Minkov left the group in 1998 and began a solo career, choosing the pseudonym Alexander Marshal. The same year is actually considered the year of the breakup of the group. After the breakup, Alexei Belov and Yan Yanenkov still continued to perform, singing songs from the old repertoire and taking on a new name - “Belova Park”.
