It often happens that the audience is so impressed with the acting that they can no longer separate the screen character and the living person. A vivid example of this is Michael Scofield. The films “Spotted Reputation”, “Another World”, “Dinotopia” and others did not bring much popularity to Wentworth Miller. However, the famous series “Escape”, in which the young man played Scofield, was able to do this.
Prison break
In the center of the plot are two brothers, Lincoln Burroughs and Michael Scofield. The eldest, Barrows, was sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. To save his brother, Michael comes up with a cunning plan and, as a result of his execution, ends up in the same prison to arrange an escape.
FOX studio originally planned to release a drama series for 2003, but due to the high ratings of Lost, production had to be postponed for a year. However, “Escape” also took its share of fame - positive ratings from critics and popularity among the audience made certain adjustments. Instead of thirteen debut episodes, twenty-two episodes appeared on the screen, and in total four seasons were filmed.
The years 2005-2006 were the most successful for the film crew - the series was repeatedly nominated for such prestigious awards as Golden Globe, Choice of the Year and Emmy.
Season 1
Incredibly smart and attractive man - this is how Michael Scofield appeared before the audience. Even more sympathy from the female half was added by his sense of justice, courage and brutal appearance.
In order to rescue his brother from prison, a young engineer commits a fictitious robbery of a bank, and then refuses a lawyer and, according to the plan, gets to a pre-determined correctional institution. The company where Michael worked was engaged in the reconstruction of an important object, so he knows a lot of interesting details about the Fox River.
It is impossible to remember the whole amount of information even with Scofield's mental abilities, and he comes up with an original way out - to get a tattoo on which a detailed plan of the prison will be encrypted.
At the same time, an old friend of Michael and Lincoln is engaged in her own investigation. She's trying to figure out who framed Burrows.
Season 2
Eight prisoners manage to escape from the Fox River. After that, like-minded people split up to realize their plans. The dismissed chief overseer decides to join the search, and is headed by a group of “hunters” Alexander Mahone, a federal agent. The brothers find themselves in Panama, but even there the pursuers overtake them.
Season 3
The winter strike of the scriptwriters slightly violated the studio's plans. The filming process was actually paralyzed for 100 days, and as a result, viewers saw only thirteen episodes.
At the beginning of the season, the main characters still remain in Panama. However, along with a federal agent and a former warden in the local Sona prison, Michael Scofield also appears. His biography is full of unexpected turns - it turns out that the son of Burroughs and Michael's girlfriend Sarah Tancredi were taken hostage. Government extortionists, in return, want the escape of one of the prisoners in a Panamanian correctional facility.
Season 4
In season four, Lincoln and Michael Scofield try to confront high-ranking criminals. Viewers meet new characters, one of which is Don Self - an agent of the US Department of Homeland Security.
The “Resurrection” of Sarah Tancredi was a pleasant surprise for fans of the series, because many thought that she died at the end of the third season.
The fourth season was shown in 2009 and was considered the last, because in the two-hour finals Michael Scofield died. Actor Wentworth Miller, however, hinted at a possible continuation of the Prison Break.
Casting
As we already said, the production of the series was postponed several times, so the director had enough time to select the actors. Interestingly, the main characters were found at the last moment.
Wentworth Miller joined the team a week before filming began. Dominic Purcell, who played Barrows, was approved in three days. The appearance of the latter caused a lot of doubts, because the swarthy and long-haired Dominic was not associated with Lincoln. However, the first day of shooting was decisive - Purcell shaved his head, and the external similarity of the two screen brothers became apparent to everyone.
The role of the prison doctor and girlfriend of the protagonist was played by Sarah Wayne Callis. Due to disagreements with the leadership, the actress left the series after the second season, which greatly upset the fans. Popular love and hundreds of snow-white origami cranes melted the hearts of the producers - they decided not to kill the heroine Callis and returned in the fourth season.
Our version
In 2010, the Russian Project studio presented a remake of Prison Break, which premiered on Channel One. Unfortunately, the success of the original series could not be repeated, so the shooting lasted only two seasons.
The storylines and dialogs were almost completely copied, but a small part nevertheless underwent changes. For example, Michael Scofield rescued his older brother, who was awaiting the death penalty. There is a moratorium in Russia , but according to the plot, after the murder of a high-ranking official, the State Duma passes a law that repeals the moratorium on the death penalty under the articles "terrorism" and "pedophilia".
