Vegetative dystonia, symptoms and treatment

Many patients, having heard the diagnosis of “VVD”, do not know what the disease is and how to treat it. Here we will give an answer to this question and tell what vegetovascular dystonia is.

Symptoms of it may be similar to signs of other diseases. But VVD is not a disease - it is a syndrome that appears as a result of any disturbances in human health, whether it is simple overwork or a serious illness. And the only correct method of treating dystonia is to identify and eliminate the causes of its appearance.

This syndrome is a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, which regulates the internal harmony in the body. Due to a malfunction of the ANS, a person experiences a violation of heat transfer, digestion, blood circulation, and sexual function. Vegetative-vascular dystonia, the symptoms of which we describe below, can appear in a person at any age. It can manifest itself constantly or be crises (fainting, panic attacks, etc.).

So, we learned what vegetative- vascular dystonia is, then we will talk about the causes of its appearance and treatment.

Why does VSD appear? The main causes of the syndrome are depression, neurosis, diseases of the cervical spine, the effects of head and neck injuries, endocrine disorders, infectious diseases, allergies, and malfunctions in the gastrointestinal tract. Many body systems and organs subordinate to the autonomic nervous system begin to fail with a pathology such as vegetative vascular dystonia.

Symptoms of the IRR:

  • Predisposition to hypertension or hypotension, rapid or slow heart rate.
  • Chronic fatigue, intolerance to large or prolonged physical exertion.
  • Coldness or fever and the desire to feel cool, cold limbs, hot flashes, possibly a slight increase in body temperature.
  • Disruption of the stomach and intestines (constipation or diarrhea, DWL, spastic pain may occur).
  • Nervous disorders - slight nervous exhaustion, headaches, irritability, dizziness, sleep disturbance, dysfunction of sexual activity.
  • Sweating or dry skin.
  • Panic attacks, fainting, seizures, vaginal, sympathoadrenal or complex crises.

With a constant repetition of the above symptoms, you must consult a doctor who can make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe treatment.

But vegetovascular dystonia, the symptoms of which are ambiguous, is not so easily detected. To confirm the diagnosis, examinations and consultations of various specialists are necessary: therapist, optometrist, neurologist, gynecologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist. The presence of somatic organic disease is excluded and studies are prescribed according to the patient's complaints and symptoms. The patient must explain in detail his feelings during the attacks in order to be able to compile the most accurate picture of the disease. After establishing a diagnosis of “VVD” and excluding the possibility of the presence of somatic disease, the doctor prescribes individual treatment.

How to treat vegetative vascular dystonia? First of all, you need to harmonize your lifestyle: do sports games, regulate work and rest, often go for walks in the fresh air, go outdoors, take a contrast shower, monitor meals, sleep at least eight hours a day. People with this syndrome are recommended spa treatment (in institutions of the neurological field), a visit to a psychotherapist, reflexology, aromatherapy, massage, physiotherapy. This is an important part of the treatment, which, unfortunately, many patients do not take seriously, which leads to an aggravation of their condition.

Medication for VVD consists of tranquilizers and antidepressants. Drugs are prescribed individually for each patient, depending on the clinical picture of his illness.

In the treatment of VVD, herbs with sedative and antidepressant effects have also been successfully used to relieve anxiety, normalize mood, and eliminate mental stress.
