“Strong women are adept at hiding their emotions,” says Oksana Sokolova, it’s impossible to disagree with her, because one of the most popular Ukrainian TV presenters is one of those.
Biography
Oksana was born on May 13, 1971 in the city of Cherkasy. The girl’s family was ordinary, having nothing to do with journalism. Parents predicted the career of the famous pianist and planned to give her to a music school. Oksana’s mother worked all her life as a music teacher, tried to instill in her daughter a love for her and did not even allow the thought that she would decide to do something else. When Oksana was six years old, her parents divorced, and soon my mother married another reckless musician. The girl never met her father again.
Fate intervened
Oksana Sokolova also took her musical future as a given, she diligently played the piano at home, attended music school, but intuitively understood that she did not like it at all. On a cold February day, on the way to class, the girl fell and severely bruised her hand, but because of inborn stubbornness she went to class and sat down at the piano. During the game, the hand was swollen, it was immediately sent to the emergency room, cast. Wearing it was unbearable, and then a party was organized at the school on the occasion of the upcoming March 8, without thinking twice, Oksana cut off the plaster, not to go so ugly to dance. As a result, the bone that has not yet fused has shifted, and the technique for professional music lessons has been lost. Oksana's musical career came to an end.
Student years
After school, Oksana Sokolova decided to enter Kiev. She chose the faculty of journalism spontaneously, it just seemed to her not so complicated, and she often wrote articles at school for the wall newspaper. Student time was fun, they put on national costumes, walked around the city, even went to caroling. There Oksana met her first husband, both were young and had not yet approached the decision responsibly. The marriage lasted on paper for about thirteen years, and in the life of Oksana and her husband remained just good friends. The girl entered her second marriage already at a conscious age, after a long conversation, the couple just went to the registry office in the morning and signed, without entourage and a banquet.
Up the career ladder
First, Oksana Sokolova got a regional television in the city of Cherkasy. And since 2000 she was transferred to the ICTV channel, she was a reporter, then in 2001 she became a presenter. At that time she was only 23 years old. Later in Ukraine, commercial channels began to appear, the girl wrote scripts for them in parallel, she was all interested, new job invitations began to come. But Oksana was pleased with her achievements at that time, a good house, her own car, and a comfortable office.
New standards
Toward the age of thirty, Oksana resolutely moved to Kiev, where wide open spaces for her development opened. My son had to leave my mother, sell the house, but here to buy a small "Khrushchev". In the afternoon - “Facts with Oksana Sokolova”, and in the evening glued wallpaper, trying to complete the repair as soon as possible. As a result, the son went to first grade already here in Kiev.
“Now work is everything for me,” Oksana admits. She is constantly at the epicenter of events, which made her tougher and firmer. When the project “Facts of the week with Oksana Sokolova” was still in its initial development and lasted 25 minutes, the girl had enough time for a cup of coffee with her friends, a full day off or a walk through the botanical garden. Now the program lasts 90 minutes, a huge flow of information is being processed, there is simply no time to relax. For these reasons, on July 24 last year, Oksana left Facts of the Week and appeared on the air in a completely different way only six months later this winter.
