Ophthalmic tetracycline ointment is a bacteriostatic antibiotic. The drug has a yellow color, is available in aluminum tubes of three, seven and ten grams.

The drug is applied topically. The ointment is laid for the lower eyelid from three to five times during the day. The use of the drug, especially over a long time, can cause various side effects. These include vomiting, diarrhea, swelling, anorexia, allergic reactions. Tetracycline ophthalmic ointment has some contraindications. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity to it and related antibiotics (Doxycycline, Oxytetracycline and others). Ointment is contraindicated for people with fungal infections, renal and hepatic pathologies, leukopenia (low white blood cell count). With extreme caution, the medication is used in children under eight years of age, as well as in patients with an allergic reaction in the medical history (history).
