What is a teaser? Bouncer teaser!

As usual, each concept has its own story.

what is a teaser
The word “teaser” originally belonged to advertising and was used intensively only there. Invented at the beginning of the 20th century, innovative advertising is still attacking the minds of consumers. What is a teaser? The essence of this term is to attract a potential buyer with colorful words, and not to say which particular product is advertised. In this regard, a number of teaser programs are released, where each time a mystery is shown, and a person, no longer realizing what is happening, is following what is happening, waiting for the end of the advertising move to find out what is hidden under it.

What is a teaser in cinema?

movie teasers
Of course, such a tricky move could not bypass the cinema. The essence of the advertising ploy remained the same, but the performance changed a bit. So what is a movie teaser? This is a short video that captivates the audience from the expected film, where skillful PR agents make up a whole scenario that stirs people's minds. That is, shots are taken from the film being shot and mixed in such a way that a lot of puzzles, questions are created, and it becomes impossible to not see the film after an intriguing video. In fact, this is the same advertisement. It is also expertly furnished and makes the audience languish in anticipation.

Everything would be fine, but, as a rule, those moments that are set in the teaser have little to do with the plot of the film. Therefore, after watching the movie, you get the feeling that you were deceived. In this regard, these masterpieces of advertising are notorious. Of course, teasers did not immediately become so malicious. Initially, these were commercials that were released before the film. By the way, the trailer, which now performs this role, was a video that was played after the release of the film. But for obvious reasons, this did not bring the desired result, success. Therefore, the trailers have become an advertisement, not an ordinary teasing lure.

Examples of teasers are known, perhaps, to everyone. For example, the highly anticipated third season of the series “Sherlock” was accompanied by its video clip, which did not say anything about the plot of the picture, but with skillful staging made fans languish in impatience. One of the most prolific at the expected premieres was the past year. Of course, the 2013 movie teasers showed themselves in all their glory. This is the “Heat of our bodies”, and “Oblivion”, and “The Great Gatsby”. All these and many other paintings, thanks to the timely teasers in time, were able to raise their rating, but not the fact that all viewers left the cinema happy after watching it.

Evil or not?

We now know what a teaser is and how it affects the viewer. But is it possible to unequivocally award him the title of a negative clip overshadowing the contemplation of a movie novelty? Of course, releasing such a video is inhumane, because sometimes the outright lie of a teasing mini-movie can lead to the opposite effect. Against its background, the trailer looks very noble and understandable, which seems to give answers to the questions that the teaser poses for the audience. But there is one detail that can put an end to this debate. Unambiguously knowing what a teaser is and what you should expect from it, you can simply not watch it. After all, no one forces! But curiosity still takes up. We look, we are disappointed - such is our nature.
