Typically, women pay a lot of attention to cosmetic care of the face, hands, do fitness to correct problem areas of the legs, thighs and abdomen, but such an open part of the body as the elbows usually remains without proper care. If
dry skin on the elbows occurs, the reasons for this are different.
What makes the skin crack?
The number one reason for dry elbows is vitamin deficiency; in addition to the characteristic symptoms (visual impairment, bleeding, etc.), the lack of vitamins A, E, D in the body is manifested by lesions of the skin. Moreover, dry elbows are the main sign of mild and worn-out forms of the above vitamin deficiencies. In the autumn, the skin of the elbows against the background of a seasonal lack of vitamins additionally suffers from temperature extremes.
There is also a mechanical cause of dry elbows - a peculiar lesion, "rubbing" of the skin from prolonged work at the table. This is a “disease” of office workers working at computers and with papers. Oddly enough, frequent bathing with additives, foams, and even in chlorinated water also contributes to dry skin. General hormonal changes in the body, both caused by diseases of the adrenal gland, pancreas, and due to stress, also lead to violations of trophic processes in the skin, and therefore affect its structure and appearance.
Discussing the
dryness of the skin of the elbows, do not forget about the possible fungal infection of this zone. If the foci of dryness and peeling are reddish spots, then you should think about contacting a dermatologist. It will not be amiss to recall about allergic
dermatitis, the manifestations of which are very diverse.
How to get rid of dry elbows
If you have dry elbows, the causes of this can be addressed in the following ways:
- fully eat, and in the autumn-winter period, "reinforce" yourself with vitamins in the form of pharmaceuticals;
- carry out peeling and nourishing skin care of elbows.
If the reason for dry elbows is insufficient care, then competent peeling will help you. First of all, it should be performed no more than twice every seven days with the use of gommages (gentle scrub) and scrubs (the use of pumice and hard brushes is unacceptable, they will provide only additional coarsening of the skin). After peeling, the skin of the elbows is covered with a sour cream or kefir mask, it can also be treated with citrus juice (lemon, grapefruit) or even sauerkraut juice. This will also help get rid of redness caused by peeling.

The next step is hydration. Any cosmetic creams will help you, the main thing is that they include almond, nut or castor oil. Enriched with vitamins or created on the basis of calendula, mint and potentilla will be very useful. Peeling and moisturizing can be combined with baths, which use slightly heated vegetable oil. Duration and frequency of the procedure: up to 15 minutes 1 time per week. I must say that the oil can be anything, the main thing is that you do not have an allergy to it.
If you really care about your health, then a periodic preventive examination by a doctor will not hurt you, because, as mentioned above, the cause of dry elbows can be hidden in a certain general disease, and the skin is a kind of mirror of the body that allows you to judge internal disorders and problems.
