Inhalation for bronchitis: not only possible, but also necessary!

Bronchitis is a disease characterized by viral and bacterial damage to the mucous membrane of the bronchi. This disease is accompanied by abundant secretion of mucus, which reduces the lumen of the bronchi. The more it becomes, the more difficult it is to separate and excrete from the body. Inhalation with bronchitis is a very effective way to liquefy and remove sputum.

Inhalation of bronchitis

Typically, this procedure is part of a comprehensive treatment. Along with taking medications, physiotherapeutic procedures, special breathing exercises and other inhalation methods for bronchitis, they help prevent the disease from transitioning to the chronic stage, which will require a longer and more thorough treatment.

Inhalation, which is an ancient but still effective method of treating respiratory diseases, is aimed at mitigating the pathological process, reducing the severity of coughing, and facilitating the separation of sputum. And this is a very simple method. If a diagnosis such as bronchitis is made, inhalation at home is simply necessary. Such procedures greatly facilitate the patient's condition and contribute to a speedy recovery. However, like any medical procedure, inhalation should be prescribed by the doctor, and not the patient himself.

Bronchitis inhalation at home
The most popular option is steam inhalation when using herbal medicines. After preparing a decoction of the necessary herbs, the infusion is poured into a teapot for brewing, on the spout of which a paper cone is put on for breathing by the broth pairs. The procedure should be carried out in compliance with the usual rhythm of breathing, without deep breaths. A variation of this option is inhalation over a pot with broth in the "tent" of a towel that completely covers the head.

Steam inhalations for bronchitis are carried out twice a day, 2 hours after a meal, for 5-10 minutes. Another hour after the end of the procedure, smoking is prohibited (it is generally better to refuse it with bronchitis), eating, lively conversation. Steam inhalations are never carried out with a medicinal decoction in the boiling stage, as well as in the presence of contraindications.

Recently, inhalations for bronchitis are done using a special device - a nebulizer. Its distinctive feature is bringing the medicinal solution to a state of fine aerosol. In this form, drugs easily penetrate the respiratory tract and are quickly absorbed by the body.

Is it possible with bronchitis inhalation
If with steam inhalations the respiratory tube is extremely undesirable (since a jet of hot steam from the mouthpiece can burn the larynx), then when using a nebulizer it is much better than a mask, since it eliminates the loss of the drug.

The doctor also prescribes inhalations with a nebulizer, and, depending on the complexity of the disease and the drug used, the inhalation course can last 5-10 days. In the case of the appointment of several drugs, they are inhaled in a certain order: the first is a bronchodilator, the second is a medicine for thinning sputum, and the third is an anti-inflammatory drug. There are breaks between inhalations.

The rest of the rules of the procedure using a nebulizer are not much different from conventional steam inhalations.

And finally, it is worth answering the following question: "Can pregnant women do inhalations with bronchitis?" Of course, such procedures are much preferable to medical intervention, but still expectant mothers should first consult a doctor.
