The trouble, when snot like water constantly flows from the nose, affects millions of people. In clinical practice, a disease is known by the definition of sinusitis. The pathological condition occurs as a result of inflammation of the tissues of the sinuses of the nasopharynx. The formation of puffiness leads to congestion of the upper respiratory tract, the accumulation of waste products of pathogenic bacteria and stagnation of fluid secrets. If your nose is flowing, what should I do? What factors provoke a problem? We will talk about this in our publication.
About the reasons
What are the causes of liquid snot? Among the factors that are capable of provoking the occurrence of a pathological condition, the following is noted:
- The consequences of the development of respiratory ailments in an advanced stage.
- Progressive growth of soft tissue tumors and polyps in the sinuses of the nasopharynx.
- Acute reactions of the body to the action of allergens.
- Traumatic effects on the tissues of the nasopharynx.
- Serious immune malfunctions when a weakened body is not able to deal with the multiplication of pathogens in the sinuses.
In addition to the above points, sinusitis is able to develop due to a pathological addiction to smoking. Sometimes trouble makes itself felt if a person has to work daily at the factory, breathing in chemicals and toxins that irritate the mucous membranes.
Forms of sinusitis
Based on the location of the epicenter of inflammation, doctors identify the following forms of the pathological condition:
- Frontitis - trouble is formed in the area of the frontal sinuses of the nasopharynx.
- Sinusitis - maxillary sinuses are affected by inflammation.
- Sphenoiditis - an accumulation of mucous masses is observed in the sphenoid cavity of the nose.
- Ethmoiditis - negative changes occur in the ethmoid sinuses.
Let's take a closer look at each form of the disease. The most severe and dangerous form of the disease is frontal sinusitis. The patient regularly pesters the development of a pain syndrome of a compressive nature in the frontal zone. Soft tissues in the epicenter of inflammation swell strongly. Periodically, transparent snot flows from the nose. Over time, the discharge may acquire a darker shade and a viscous consistency.
Most often, sinusitis develops against the background of sinusitis. Often, the problem makes itself felt against the background of the spread of inflammatory processes in the sinuses of the nasopharynx from the tissues of diseased teeth. A characteristic sign of the onset of the disease is the formation of a fistula in the area between the maxillary sinus and oral cavity. It is through such a neoplasm that the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx become infected. In patients with sinusitis, it flows strongly from the nose, pain is observed in the forehead, temples, and cheekbones. The consequence of the lack of treatment often becomes the spread of pain throughout the face, the occurrence of severe swelling of the cheeks and eyelids.
Sphenoiditis is the most common form of sinusitis. Among the characteristic symptoms, it is worth noting the presence of a double effect in the eyes, as well as persistent discomfort in the occipital region. The patient has to constantly put up with the fact that the mucus flows from the nose. Pathology, as a rule, develops against the background of the growth of polyps, deformation of the nasal septum.
Ethmoiditis is manifested by shooting and squeezing pains that affect the nose bridge zone. Isolation of water-like snot is accompanied by swelling of the eyelids, conjunctivitis. Therapy with this form of the disease is the use of integrated solutions. The trouble is eliminated thanks to the regular implementation of physiotherapy, drug and folk therapy.
Amoxicillin
If a clear fluid flows from the nose, how can I treat the disease? In cases where the nuisance is caused by the development of bacterial infections, the pharmacological agent Amoxicillin will come to the rescue. The biologically active components of the drug destroy enzymes that form the cell walls of pathogenic microorganisms, which causes the inevitable death of pathogens of the disease.
A single dose of the drug for children over the age of 10 years and adults is no more than 500 mg of the active substance. In the case of the development of sinusitis of a bacterial nature, the medicine is taken 3 times a day with a frequency of 7-8 hours. If a severe course of the disease is observed, a one-time rate can be increased to 1000 mg.
Otrivin
Consider what properties the spray "Otrivin Complex" and instructions for use. The pharmacological composition is a vasoconstrictor drug, which is widely used in ENT practice. The main active component of the drug is xylometazoline. As a result of the effect of the substance on the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx, the narrowing of the blood ducts and the removal of puffiness are observed, which helps to unlock breathing. Positive changes are noted after only a few minutes after using the aerosol and are stored for up to 12 hours.
According to the recommendations from the instructions for use, the spray "Otrivin Complex" is safe to use for children over 6 years of age and adults, one injection of the composition in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day. The duration of therapy should not exceed 10 days.
"Nazivin"
"Nazivin" adult - highly effective nasal drops that have a pronounced vasoconstrictor effect on the tissues of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx. The use of medication provides a quick removal of puffiness and the unlocking of the nasal passages. The advantage of the drug is the absence of an overdrying effect on local structures. A positive effect after applying the drops is observed after 15-20 minutes. The duration of the drug is about 12 hours.
If the nose is flowing - what to do and how to treat its cavities? The patient should throw his head back, insert the nose of the bottle “Nazivin” into the nostril and perform a light pressure. It is enough to process each nasal passage with several drops of substance at a time. In order to eliminate the unpleasant symptoms of sinusitis, it is advisable to perform the procedure 2-3 times a day.
"Oxymetazoline"
Leaking nose - what to do? If progressive development of sinusitis is observed, use Oxymethazoline nasal drops, which quickly stabilize the aerodynamics of the upper respiratory tract. The components of the drug provide the unlocking of the nose by eliminating swelling of the tissues of the mucous membranes. The effect of the drug is noted almost instantly. The positive effect is maintained throughout the day.
The solution is allowed to be used to treat children over 6 years of age. Each nostril is treated with a few drops at a time. The procedure is performed 2-3 times a day. Adults perform therapy according to a similar pattern. To avoid addiction, drops are recommended to be used for no more than a month.
Sinupret
Sinupret drops produce a disinfecting and anti-inflammatory effect on nasopharyngeal tissue. The medicine contains ingredients that enhance the protective properties of the body. These properties are due to the presence of medicinal extracts of gentian root, verbena, primrose and sorrel in the composition of the medication.
If your nose is flowing, what should I do? Shake the bottle with the product. Measure out 50 ml of solution and take inside. Perform therapy up to 3 times a day. When treating children from 2 years of age, the one-time rate should be no more than 15 drops of the drug. A standard course of therapy takes two weeks. Adults are recommended to use Sinupret undiluted. For kids, the medicine can be offered diluted in fruit juice or tea.
Healing tea based on ginger, honey and lemon
To strengthen the immune system, eliminate swelling of the tissues of the nasopharynx and increase the body's resistance to the activity of pathogens of bacterial infections, use the following tool. Take a medium-sized lemon. Prepare 300 grams of ginger root, as well as 150 ml of liquid honey. Peel the citrus, grind the pulp in a blender. Grind the ginger root. Place the ingredients in a glass jar and fill with honey. Carefully move the composition to a uniform consistency. Put the agent in the refrigerator for aging.
In order to relieve swelling of the mucous membranes and eliminate abundant liquid secretions from the nose, perform the following treatment. Dissolve a tablespoon of the prepared mixture in a glass of warm boiled water. Absorb all fluid shortly before meals. Follow the procedure 2-3 times a day. Continue treatment daily until the unpleasant symptoms of sinusitis are relieved.
Saline Nasal Rinse
Regular rinsing of the nasal passages is an effective folk method to combat the development of sinusitis. The method provides high-quality release of the maxillary sinuses from the accumulation of mucous masses. Sea salt dissolved in water produces a disinfecting effect on local tissues. The result of therapy is the elimination of a favorable environment for the propagation of pathogenic bacteria and the restoration of the functions of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx.
Perform treatment according to such a scheme:
- Prepare a tablespoon of sea salt.
- Dissolve the mineral in 250 ml boiled water.
- Pour warm product into a kettle with a thin spout.
- Gently fill the substance into one nostril and let it flow out through the other.
Perform the procedure for several minutes. Try a method of therapy every time when there is a strong nasal congestion and the appearance of copious mucous secretions.
Onion-honey infusion
A good solution in the fight against sinusitis is the use of a healing infusion prepared on the basis of onion juice and honey. To prepare the medicine, use the following recipe. Take a medium sized onion head. Peel the root crop and then grind it with a fine grater. In the resulting mass, add a dessert spoon of liquid honey. Pour the mixture with half a glass of boiled water. Wrap the container with the product in a warm cloth. Allow the medicine to brew for 6-7 hours. Then drain the liquid through cheesecloth. Use the substance to flush the nose. Instill a few drops of the substance into each nostril once a day. Perform treatment daily for a week and a half.
Kalanchoe juice
Avoid progression of sinusitis by processing the nasal passages with Kalanchoe juice. The plant contains natural bactericidal elements that create a special environment that is unfavorable for the propagation of pathogenic bacteria. The active substances in the composition of such juice irritate the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx, which ensures the rapid passage of accumulations of mucous masses and unlocks breathing.
Treatment with a folk remedy is as follows:
- Tear off a few bottom sheets from the Kalanchoe stem.
- Thoroughly grind the raw materials to a state of gruel, using a meat grinder or kitchen crush for garlic.
- Put the pulp in a piece of gauze and squeeze the juice.
- Dilute the resulting liquid with water in equal proportions.
- Place 2 drops of the drug in each nostril, which will provoke active sneezing and release of the upper respiratory tract from the mucous masses.
- Perform therapy 2-3 times a day.
Potato inhalation
To get rid of the flow of clear mucus from the nose, take regular inhalations over the boiled potato vapors. Use several large root vegetables. Put the product in a saucepan and boil in its jacket. Mash the cooked potatoes lightly in a roomy bowl. Place your face over the container and cover your head with a towel. Inhale the vapors for 5-10 minutes. Perform inhalation after waking up and shortly before going to bed.
Beetroot juice
Beet juice is well known among the people for its pronounced disinfecting properties. Regular use of the drug provides a fairly quick removal of the unpleasant symptoms of sinusitis caused by the development of a bacterial infection.
In order to perform therapy, take a small beetroot and peel it. Grind the pulp thoroughly. Squeeze the juice out of the resulting mass using gauze. Dilute the substance with water in a ratio of 1: 3. Put the medicine into each nostril 3 drops in the morning and evening. Treat daily until a noticeable improvement in well-being.
