So it happens that you live for yourself, do not bother anyone, and suddenly they take away everything: family, car, work and life. Even the soul is not left alone. Settle her in a new body, set a specific task and send her to perform. Few would agree to this. However, no one asked him. Such a fate was awarded to one of the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy team - Drax the Destroyer, after an accident happened to him.
New life
Before this happened, Arthur Sampson Douglas lived with his wife Ivvet and daughter Heather in California. Once during a car ride through the Mojave Desert, they notice a spaceship in the sky. The vessel was then ruled by a wandering titan named Thanos. And since his plans did not include being noticed by a simple American family, he decided to attack her.
After the attack, only Heather was able to survive. She was lucky because she liked the mentor of Thanos - the Mentor, who trained her, after which she became a hero with mental abilities. She was later nicknamed the Moon Dragon for her attempt to destroy the Moon Dragon.
A completely different story happened with Arthur. His body was destroyed, but his mind was still living. And very soon he found application.
The fact is that even the Mentor eventually got tired of the aggressive methods of Thanos, so they, together with Kronos, the representative of the Eternal race and the cosmic time lord, decided to stop him. To do this, they created a body endowed with certain abilities, and hooked the spirit of Douglas into it. So Drax the Destroyer appeared, who had absolutely no idea about his past life and was programmed exclusively to destroy his only enemy - Thanos.
First fight
So, feeding on the fury of Thanos, Drax chased him for many years. And at some point he got a chance to fight him. This happened while searching for a part of the sacred collection of Odin - the “Space Cube”. Drax the Destroyer (photo below) in the company of the Avengers, the Moon Dragon and Captain Marvel defeats Thanos after a difficult battle.
But the victory was not final, so Drax again goes in search of him until he finds out that the villain was killed by the team of the Avengers and Adam Warlock (Golden Surfer).
Unexpected union
Now he has a lot of free time, because the goal of his life has been achieved. Therefore, he begins to wander around the galaxies until he falls under the influence of an evil entity that forces him to attack Thor and the Moon Dragon. Heather, possessing the necessary abilities, forces the creature to release Drax. And he, in gratitude, invites her to travel together.
In one of their wanderings, they stumbled upon the planet Ba-Banis, inhabited by human-like creatures that had long been on the verge of a civil war. Heather, thanks to his skills, helps them avoid bloodshed, and then decides to stay on the planet as their deity. Drax the Destroyer (Marvel) realizes that this is wrong, so he sends a signal to the Avengers for help.
Upon learning of this, Heather takes the former father under control, but the Avengers are already in place. They free Drax from under the influence of others, and he is going to finish off his daughter, but loses. The Moon Dragon separates his mind from his body, thereby destroying him. The Avengers stop her, and Drax's body is put into a capsule and sent into space, where it explodes.
Resurrection
How peaceful everything was in the universe until Death decided to resurrect Thanos! In response, Kronos returns Drax the Destroyer. Only now does he create an even more powerful body for him. True, Heather last time damaged his mind, so Krosnos instilled in his new body what was left of him, and in this state sent Drax to Earth.
By the way, the strongman really liked it. Moreover, on Earth, he began to recall some details of his past. He met the Moon Dragon again, and they even developed friendly relations again. Although Heather was afraid he would remember what she had done to him. But, as it turned out, the fears were in vain, because Drax the Destroyer did not remember anything about those events.
One more battle
After some time, Drax decided to leave the planet, as he had a strong hatred of Thanos. He went to look for him. The Titan, meanwhile, has already managed to get all the Infinity Stones and created from them the Glove of Infinity. With such power, he was invincible.
In his quest, Drax met the Silver Surfer, who became his ally. Together they were able to find Thanos, but the villain imprisoned the heroes in the Soul Stone to get rid of them. Inside, they meet other prisoners who together help them to free themselves. Drax is furious, he again attacks the titan, but the owner of the Infinity Glove cannot be defeated, so he loses. In that battle, many died at the hands of Thanos, but Drax fought until the space pirate and mercenary Nebula, taking the glove from the titan, defeated him.
Guardians of Infinity
After the defeat of Thanos, Adam Warlock decided that Infinity Stones should be stored separately from each other. Therefore, for each of them he chooses the Keeper. Drax also gets his stone, but because of his stupidity swallows it, taking it for a treat. It’s good that he didn’t digest, but simply kept all this time in his stomach.
True, the Guardian team did not have to exist for a long time, especially since the Moon Dragon was mortally wounded in one of the missions. Drax took care of her for a long time, and then asked Kronos to cure her. The time lord agreed to help, but in exchange took part of Drax's physical strength.
Another death
After some time, Drax the Destroyer gets on board a prison ship, in which several hundred prisoners were transported to an intergalactic prison. But they do not get to their destination, but they crash on Earth. Many dangerous prisoners were immediately outside their cells, and Drax had to restrain them so that they would not harm civilians.
And a little later, when he made his way to the place where the ship fell, he was blocked by one of the prisoners - Peybak. In a fight with him, Drax was killed, but this did not mean his end. After a while, he received a new body with improved intelligence, but a smaller set of abilities. Although this did not stop him from fighting Thanos again.
Thanos again
During the Annihilation period, when the ruler of the Negative Zone, Annigilus, with the help of his army, tried to capture the Positive Zone, the titan Thanos was aboard one of the ships. As soon as Drax felt this, a frantic rage seized him. Without thinking about anything else, he decided to make his way alone to the ship and finish off his worst enemy.
Thanos himself did not yet realize that Annigilus had deceived everyone. After all, he said that he was going to simply subjugate the “Positive Zone” to become its ruler, and he himself planned to capture Galactus - the creator and devourer of worlds, with his help to destroy all life.
When Thanos realized this, it was too late. He wanted to free the Silver Surfer, but Drax was already there. From wild malice, a luminous aura surrounded his body. And he struck, which not only broke the shield of Thanos, but also tore his heart. After that, the Silver Surfer freed Galactus, and he destroyed the Annihilation Army with a powerful explosion.
Forces and abilities
Drax the Destroyer (the film "Guardians of the Galaxy"), or rather his body, represents a combination of several abilities at once:
- Strength. It has inhuman strength and is capable of lifting a weight of about 100 tons.
- Invulnerability. His body is able to withstand virtually any physical and energy attack. In addition, he is not afraid of the heat of the sun and the cold of space.
- Regeneration. Even if someone succeeds in injuring Drax, his wounds will heal very quickly. True, it was unknown if he could grow a limb.
- Flair. Drax is not a bloodhound, but he is capable of locating the titan of Thanos from any distance.
- Mysterious aura. At the peak of his fury, Drax can create an aura around himself, after which his strength so increases that he is capable of much. For example, to break through the sturdy shield of Thanos, and then tear out his heart.
- Flight. Drax the Destroyer can fly at a very high speed, which is slightly less than the speed of light.
- Explosive energy. This roll is able to release energy rays from the hands.
True, it must be borne in mind that all these forces and abilities in full force were with him only at the beginning. After several revivals (or deaths), he had to sacrifice flight, energy rays, and part of his physical strength.
By the way, it is not known where Drax the Destroyer wandered after the events that occurred during the first Annihilia. Yes, it doesn’t matter, because if sometime somewhere in the vastness of the galaxies the heart of the villain Thanos beats again, he will certainly appear.
