Redness of the skin or hyperemia is a fairly common condition of the skin.
This word gave us the Greek language. Literally denotes an overflow of blood in the vascular system in an organ or part of the body. "Hyper" - over, "emiya" - blood or super blood, a lot of blood, the vessel is full.
By the type of blood flowing in the vessels, hyperemia can be arterial, that is, with an increase in the flow of arterial blood, and venous, when the outflow of venous blood is impaired.
The simplest hyperemia of the skin that we encounter in everyday life is thermal burn of the first degree. The skin reddens sharply in the affected area due to the intense flow of blood, then edema appears due to a violation of its outflow.
Most often, hyperemia of the skin is a manifestation or "calling card" of the disease. For example, a characteristic “butterfly” on the face appears with systemic lupus erythematosus. Here we see a powerful susceptibility of blood vessels to an inflammatory factor. In some people, with an outbreak of anger, you can observe flushing of the skin of the face (the face went stained) or the appearance of spots on the inner surface of the hands, on the neck or ears turn red.
Skin hyperemia accompanies various skin diseases: psoriasis, lichen, ulcers, and so on. Depending on the affected area, hyperemia is divided into focal and common. Focal hyperemia manifests itself as separate spots on some part of the body, with stomatitis, with gastritis or ulcer of the stomach and duodenum. It can be observed during pancreatic surgery as a result of its inflammation.
The most troubles are nevertheless caused by flushing of the skin of the face. First of all, in this case, beauty suffers, a person may even have an inferiority complex. On the face, all areas are subject to hyperemia - the back of the nose, wings of the nose, chin, cheeks. Only the forehead remains intact. The process begins with the branching of the vascular network. If the cause is not eliminated, then the skin on the affected area begins to thicken, bright red acne may appear.
At a young and young age, the cause of facial skin hyperemia can be an allergic reaction, hormonal imbalance. In women older than 30 years, age-related changes begin, which lead to a change in the vascular wall and a violation of the blood supply to the vessels. Most often, in the initial stages of manifestation of facial skin hyperemia, patients self-medicate, then consult a cosmetologist, then a dermatologist. But the cause of this type of hyperemia can be diseases of the stomach or intestines, dysfunction of the endocrine glands, inflammatory conditions of the nasopharynx, diseases of the genital organs. In addition, a long daily standing near an ordinary stove may become a commonplace cause of hyperemia.
Prevention of the manifestation of various types of skin hyperemia, including on the face, depends on the possible causes that contribute to its manifestation. A long stay at a heat source or, conversely, in the cold, the adoption of certain drugs, the use of cosmetics.
Skin prone to hyperemia needs special protection and care. Persons with signs of hyperemia are categorically not allowed to undergo thermal procedures, as they lead to even greater expansion and filling of blood vessels. Therefore, masks using paraffin, steam baths are contraindicated for such skin. Facial massage should be carried out very carefully and only with a highly qualified specialist.
You should use cosmetics that do not contain alcohol and other components that can cause irritation. Instead of washing, you should wipe your face with lotion, without rubbing it into the skin. And in the summer, a wide-brimmed hat or light umbrella will protect your face from the sun.
