However, you can create exactly the same atmosphere at home (by the way, this is a great idea for a Saturday night). How quiet it will be depends on the genre of the film. Some will choose family comedy, while others will be the scariest horror movie in the world. Those who like to “tickle” their nerves should definitely read our review to the end.
On taste and color
When choosing a film, we most often focus on the ratings of critics and the opinions of others. Many well-known movie portals offer their ratings, according to which the lowest rates always have horrors.
The most terrible and terrible pictures, due to their specificity, are not very popular. Someone is afraid of ghosts, others - meeting with a maniac, and for others horror stories even cause an attack of laughter - it is impossible to please everyone.
Frankly, creating the Top 10 most scary horror films was not so simple. The main criterion was the assessment of the viewer, not professional film critics.
“Reverse 666”
There are several classic tricks that filmmakers use in a genre such as horror. The worst stories can happen in large houses, abandoned towns or former psychiatric hospitals. It was the last place that Marcus Nispel chose - the director who gave us such horrors as “Friday the 13th” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.
Interestingly, a reception with a mental hospital is often used by beginners. An oppressive atmosphere, thoughts about former patients, medical devices and rooms upholstered with soft cloth left everywhere - a viewer with a stormy imagination needs only this picture. However, the eminent director decided differently.
Pastor Conway is buying a former hospital to set up a rehabilitation center there. For many years the building was without owners, so before opening it is necessary to do a lot of work. Patrick is a teenager who desperately needs money, and therefore agrees to any job.
Friends of a young man decide to seize the moment and have a small party in the "mental hospital". For the sake of entertainment, teens play the video tape they found in a rather unusual way - back to front. Innocent fun frees the evil demon who also wants to “have fun”. Doors of the hospital are tightly closed, and mobile phones suddenly stop working.
At this moment, the viewer begins to have associations with the classic story about the infestation of the devil and exorcism, but the director again surprises. The demon is not going to choose one, he takes turns taking control of each of the young people, trying to quench the insatiable thirst for suffering and murder.
We can safely say that in the list of “The most terrible horror films of 2015”, the picture “Reverse 666” should occupy one of the first places.
“The story of two sisters”
Sophisticated lovers who prefer the most terrible horrors, are increasingly turning their attention to the work of Asian directors. The Story of Two Sisters was appreciated (2003).
The basis for the plot, the South Korean director and screenwriter Kim Ji-un took the famous "Tale of the Rose and the Lotus." Critics praised the film a lot, and Hollywood producers even decided to create a remake, which six years later came out under the name “Uninvited”.
After treatment in a psychiatric hospital, two sisters are at large. A loving father is waiting for the girls at home, as well as a stepmother, who constantly takes some medications. A foreign woman gladly takes up the upbringing of the sisters, but they desperately resist.
Incomplete treatment, hallucinations and memories of a real mother - until the end of the film, the viewer understands little of what is happening, builds speculations and rightly foresees the unexpected end of the story. The lack of expensive special effects is successfully compensated by the eerie atmosphere, clearly hinting at the frenzy of what is happening.
We will not tell you all the secrets that Kim Ji-un has prepared. This is not to say that “The Story of Two Sisters” is the worst horror film in history, but it's still worth watching the original and a remake of “Uninvited”.
"The key to all doors"
Top of the scariest horror films continues “The Key to All Doors” - the work of British director Ian Softley.
The young girl Caroline, whose role was played by the charming Kate Hudson, is arranged as a nurse for an elderly couple. From the first seconds, she is impressed by a huge house with 30 rooms. To look after a dumb and paralyzed old man. According to his wife, Ben survived a stroke and will die soon.

Having learned the mysterious story, Caroline begins to pay attention to the strange behavior of his ward. Ben tries to crawl away, leaves scratches on the sheet, begs for help and casts desperate looks on the nurse. But nothing helps - an inexperienced girl does not even imagine what kind of game the hostess of the house started with her.

"Silent Hill"
The scariest horror film in history - this definition can easily “try on” Silent Hill. A bold project directed by Christoph Gan, the basis for which was the Japanese computer game.
The adopted daughter of Rose and Christopher DaSilva suffers from bouts of sleepwalking and sees a strange city in a dream. Mom decides to take the girl to this place to help little Sharon. Before entering Silent Hill, the car crashes, but, having regained consciousness, Rose cannot find her daughter.
A brave woman sets off for an abandoned city. Silent Hill appears in four variations before the viewer: the 1970s, the present, a foggy day (reminiscent of purgatory) and darkness (the embodiment of hell). Flashbacks tell a story because of which all the inhabitants of the city were in the power of a real monster.
In addition to the oppressive atmosphere, which the most terrible horrors in the world can boast, paranormal creatures make a great contribution:

- cockroaches.
They cause fear and anxiety, repel and make us close our eyes. Some of the creatures were created using computer graphics, but a lot of work went to professional dancers - the director, using broken plastic, wanted to convey their suffering and humanity.
Film critics did not appreciate the plot. However, the visual component (the design of the scenery, the make-up and elements of the horror) still came to taste.
The second part of Silent Hill, which was released in the fall of 2012, was not liked even by fans of a computer game. The work of director Michael J. Bassett received negative reviews. Experts noted a misinterpretation of the source material, fragmentary narrative, as well as a general decrease in quality.

“Mirrors”
The main character, Ben Carson, was fired from the police. In search of work, a man who has a craving for alcohol and suffers from unmotivated aggression gets a job as a security guard in a former department store. The fire destroyed the once magnificent interiors. Surprisingly, only the numerous mirrors were not touched by the elements.
A dense layer of dust and a huge number of mannequins are all that Ben notices during his first round. However, later Carson is struck by mirrors that do not have dust particles, as if someone carefully wipes them every day. He begins to sense someone's presence in an abandoned store and see terrible things in reflection. On the advice of her sister, the former policeman decides to quit, but the mirrors kill the girl. Now there is only one way out - to find out what they need.
The most terrible horrors are often associated with psychiatric hospitals. It turns out that a luxurious department store was built on the site of such a hospital - hence all the troubles. Bloody deaths, distortion in the mirrors, fire and crash - director Alexander Azha could not do without high-quality special effects. After watching, especially impressionable spectators seriously bypass the mirrors.
According to critics, "Mirrors" must be included in the category of "Top 10 most terrible horror films."
The sequel, released in 2010, greatly disappointed many viewers, not to mention the crushing assessments of experts. The weak play of the actors and the lack of a tense atmosphere - this picture cannot be compared with the original. Do you like horrors? The most terrible and terrible, as a rule, the first parts. It is incredibly difficult to shoot a high-quality continuation of the horror, and director Victor Garcia did not succeed in doing this.
The Oculus

“Oculus”, according to viewers, is the most terrible horrors of the past year. Without expensive special effects and Hollywood stars, the director managed to create high-quality movies in the horror genre.
“The hills have eyes”
From the mere slogan “Happy is he who dies first”, the hair stands on end and the skin is covered with “goose bumps”. “The Hills Have Eyes” is the next work of Alexander Azh, which deserves the title “The Scariest Horror Movie in the World”.
A typical American family travels by car. At the gas station, the owner prompts a shorter route, and they leave the main highway. In the wilderness that the Carters cross, many years ago nuclear weapons were tested. The local population was relocated from the danger zone, but some still decided to stay. Under the influence of radiation, a mutation occurred, and creatures are not much like ordinary people.
Trapped in monsters and gets a family trailer. In search of help, the Carters separate, and the mutants begin a real hunt. Many bloody scenes that are shot quite realistically will make you close your eyes for a few seconds. The picture keeps in suspense until the last minute, because it is impossible to predict who will win the deadly battle - people or mutants.
In the wake of success, the creators decided not to miss the moment, and a year later the continuation of the movie was presented to the audience.
The worst horrors this time happen in abandoned mines. The appearance of the mutants became even more creepy, but the main characters were more surprised. No, this is not another family or group of teenagers. A new director always brings fresh ideas. According to the idea of ​​Martin Wise, soldiers of the National Guard enter the fight against disgusting monsters . It is impossible to imagine the condition of parents who cannot help a sick child with anything. Josh and Renee move with their three children to a new home. From the very first days, the spouse begins to notice strange things - things disappear or move by themselves.

Director James Wang and screenwriter Lee Wannell managed to avoid the patterns - only the best (scary) horror films can boast of. A realistic other world, ghosts with their own stories, a tense atmosphere and, of course, an unexpected ending can scare even skeptical viewers.
The continuation of the “Astral” audience saw two years later. The troubles do not leave the young family. They move to Josh’s mother’s house, where terrible things also begin to happen, but this time in the center of events is the head of the family, whose body no longer belongs to him. Another mysterious story shot by a talented team.
However, the creators of the film did not stop there, and last summer the third chapter was released. The action takes place in the past, and it has nothing to do with the heroes we have already loved. Without the talented James Wang, the third part of the film “Astral”, unfortunately, could not get into the rating “The most terrible horror films of 2015”. The story of a little girl who is bothered by mysterious forces did not impress the sophisticated viewer at all. If we consider the next chapter as a separate story, then everything is not so bad. However, the first two parts leave a stronger impression.
