The medicine "Tserukal " for children: composition and properties
This drug is sold in the form of tablets (usually this form is prescribed for children) or liquid for injection. The main active ingredient is metoclopramide hydrochloride monohydrate. As excipients, tablets contain lactose, precipitated silica, gelatin, potato starch and magnesium stearate.
The pharmaceutical agent “Cerucal” (for children) is a drug that acts primarily on the center of the brain, blocking the impulse from the pyloric stomach, thereby stopping the manifestation of the gag reflex. In addition, the active components also act on the digestive system - they regulate the tone of the walls of the stomach, promote its emptying, and stimulate peristaltic movements.
The drug "Cerucal": indications for use
This drug is used for various purposes. Basically, it is prescribed for constant nausea and frequent vomiting, which are caused by a wide variety of factors. It is also used for biliary dyskinesia and esophagitis. The drug is effective for paresis in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Sometimes the drug “Cerucal” is prescribed as a preparation for radiopaque scans and probes, since taking the drug enhances motility and accelerates gastric emptying.
The drug "Cerucal" (tablets): instructions for use
It is worth noting that the use of the medicine "Cerucal" for children under the age of 14 must be very careful. Therefore, giving the drug to the child is not recommended arbitrarily - only as directed by the doctor and in accordance with his recommendations.
The dose for children aged two to fourteen is approximately 0.1 mg of active substance per kilogram of the body weight of the child. The maximum dose should not exceed 0.5 mg per kilogram of body per day.
For children over fourteen, the dose can be increased - 10 mg three or four times a day.
The course of treatment is 4-6 weeks. Only in rare cases, a longer treatment is indicated, but only a doctor can prescribe it. It should be careful, since the drug has a number of contraindications. That is why a medical examination and an individual dosage are required.
Cerucal medicine for children: contraindications
To begin with, it should be noted that taking the drug to patients under two years of age is prohibited. This also applies to children with hypersensitivity to metoclopramine and sodium sulfite.
Contraindications to taking the drug are intestinal obstruction, epilepsy, bleeding from the herbal tract, the presence of perforations in the digestive tube and pheochromocytoma.
Use the drug very carefully if the child has a violation of the kidneys or is diagnosed with bronchial asthma, impaired liver function or arterial hypertension.
Cerucal drug for children: side effects
Unfortunately, in some cases, the drug can cause unwanted reactions from the body. Most often these are disorders of the digestive system, which are expressed in constipation and diarrhea. Sometimes children complain of dry mouth.
Quite often, reactions from the brain are also observed. This can be fatigue, chronic fatigue, dizziness, regular headaches and drowsiness. In some cases, tinnitus or a nervous tic of the muscles of the face, shoulders and neck may appear. Much less often is the appearance of a feeling of intense fear or the development of a depressed state. Several cases of development of facial muscle spasms have been reported, but in most cases this is already a symptom of an overdose.
