Food Poisoning - Symptoms and Treatment

Food poisoning has become a frequent occurrence of modern society. Usually it occurs during harvesting - fresh berries and mushrooms, as well as during the holidays. Food poisoning occurs for various reasons, mainly due to the use of spoiled foods. Toxins and microbes that enter the body are the causative agents of this disease. Today, in view of the opening of numerous grocery stores, each owner wants to have more and more customers, luring them with all kinds of discounts, promotions and β€œred price tags”. But often, products with such promotions can be substandard. Also, many sellers do not comply with storage conditions and periods, sanitary and hygienic requirements and norms.

All this leads to the fact that a person has food poisoning. Contaminated water can also become a source of this infection. Many experts recommend not buying ready-made minced meat and chicken cutlets in stores, since pathogenic bacteria can get into them during processing.

Staphylococcus is the most common toxin that enters the body with spoiled or poor quality products. Food that is stored at room temperature can easily catch this bacterium. Products most affected by staphylococcus are smoked meats, dairy products, pastes and vinaigrette.

To determine whether it is food poisoning or not, you need to look at the symptoms. The signs of infection are as follows:

bloating and cramping pains;

- diarrhea and vomiting;

- headache, chills, aching muscles and fever;

- low blood pressure;

- fainting or rapid heartbeat.

With such symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor. The patient will be prescribed treatment, and if necessary, gastric lavage. Thus, if food poisoning occurs, symptoms will appear within 12 hours.

You should not be treated on your own, you can, of course, take a bag of Smecta or activated carbon, but still you need to contact a specialist. Treatment of food poisoning is carried out according to the scheme:

- gastric lavage with a solution of manganese, baking soda or boiled water;

- A plentiful drink with the addition of baking soda or table salt;

- diet;

- the use of drugs as prescribed by the doctor;

- if necessary - hospitalization.

It is immediately necessary to consult a doctor if food poisoning occurs in young children and pregnant women, if there is muscle weakness and respiratory failure, severe diarrhea with water or an admixture of blood, fever or dehydration of the body has formed.

To avoid such cases, you must carefully choose food. The following rules must be observed:

- Do not eat mushrooms that are little known, worms, damaged and old;

- Do not eat bitter almonds, as well as seeds of apricots, peaches and plums, they contain amygdalin, which turns into hypochloric acid in the human stomach;

- do not buy canned goods with crumpled, swollen lids or no labels;

- look closely at the expiration dates and storage conditions, if they are observed, and the temperature regime is consistent, then even then you can purchase products.

If food poisoning occurs, it is worth clarifying the reason, then you can demand a financial penalty from the seller. You should always peel and boil vegetables well, eat only proven berries, pick mushrooms, and then process them very carefully. Small children and pregnant women should not give mushrooms, they are the main source of food poisoning. You need to be careful about your health.
