'Dalacin' (cream)

The drug called "Dalacin" is available in three forms: in the form of capsules, gel and cream. In this note, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the description and instructions for using the cream. It is a mass of white and belongs to the antibiotics of the group of linkosamides.

There are three plastic applicators in a 20-gram package of cream, and 7 applicators in a 40-gram package. They are designed for more accurate and correct insertion of cream into the vagina. After removing the cap from the tube, screw one applicator onto the neck of the tube, which has a special thread. After rolling the tube from the other end, squeeze the cream into the applicator. Note that it is considered to be full when the piston reaches the stop. Next, the applicator is unscrewed, and the cap is screwed back. Insert the device into the vagina very carefully in the supine position, pulling the knees to the chest. The applicator is placed as deep as possible. The cream is introduced by pressing the piston, after which the structure is carefully removed and discarded.

In case of prolonged or severe diarrhea that develops during treatment, Dalacin cream must be canceled, after which special diagnostic procedures and further treatment should be carried out.

The main active ingredient of Dalacin is clindamycin. In addition to it, the cream includes: sorbtan monostearate, polysorbate, propylene glycol, cetostearyl alcohol, stearic acid, cetyl palmitate, benzyl alcohol, mineral oil and purified water.

Vaginal "Dalacin" cream is used exclusively for bacterial vaginosis.

The drug is contraindicated in people with hypersensitivity to clindamycin or any other component that is part of it.

If we talk about the method of administration and doses, Dalacin cream is used only intravaginally. It is advisable to do this before bedtime. One full applicator is filled with 5 g of cream. The procedure should be done three or seven days in a row.

Unfortunately, adequate controlled studies regarding the use of the drug "Dalacin" during pregnancy have not been conducted. So, in the first trimester, it is used only for absolute indications. When using the drug in the second and third trimesters, the effect on the appearance of congenital abnormalities of the fetus was not noticed. During lactation, treatment can take place only if the benefits of therapy outweigh the risk to the child.

Experts do not recommend conducting treatment with the drug along with other means for intravaginal administration. It all depends on each case.

The vaginal cream β€œDalacin” should be prescribed after excluding the presence of Chlamydia trachomatis, Trichomonas vaginalis, Candida albicans, Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

The use of clindamycin intravaginally can cause increased growth of yeast-like fungi or other insensitive organisms. When conducting therapeutic therapy, patients are better off not having sex and not using products for intravaginal administration. During treatment, you should also not use condoms or vaginal diaphragms, as the components included in the cream can reduce the strength of rubber or latex products.

As for the side effects that the Dalacin cream can cause, the incidence of these is less than 10%. However, among the possible reactions are certain diseases of the genitourinary system (trisomonadal vaginitis, vulvovaginitis, uterine bleeding, proteinuria, etc.), systemic diseases (inflammatory edema, bacterial infections, back pain, upper respiratory tract infections), unpleasant phenomena from the gastrointestinal tract (constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, abdominal pain), central nervous system (dizziness) and others.

In general, Dalacin cream, reviews of which confirm its positive characteristics, is very effective and, if used and treated correctly, does not cause side effects and complications.
