"Big eyes". Actors - new stars of Tim Burton

In 2014, the cult director Tim Burton takes off another movie masterpiece in which there is a lot of light, a riot of colors, humor that is understandable to the majority, and a very personal story. The chamber drama "Big Eyes" (leading actors Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz) has a light feminist flair. Based on a low-budget picture based on real events, the plot is based on the history of the now surviving 87-year-old artist Margaret Keen. To all of the above, it is worth adding that this is Burton's first full-length project since 1996, in which neither the eccentric Johnny Depp nor the charming Helena Bonham Carter shine.

The end of the cycle of thought

The film "Big Eyes", the actors and roles of which became the subject of heated discussion immediately after the release of the tape, is the first in the filmography of Burton after the release in 1994 of "Ed Wood", shot in the style of realistic surroundings. Nevertheless, the author’s “visionary” handwriting of the creator is palpable in this masterpiece. The new work has a surreal atmosphere and vibrant colors. This refutes the assumption of individual critics who believe that Tim became a hostage to the Macro-Gothic style and has exhausted himself. In the drama “Big Eyes,” the actors invited to the shooting had the opportunity to work not with Burton, an eccentric, but with Burton, an introvert, thoughtful, subtly sensitive. According to cinema experts, the film completes the director’s cycle of thoughts about the phenomenon of art and creativity, which he started with “Ed Wood”. In addition to the sugary color palette, the unusually soft soundtrack of Danny Elfman surprises fans of the work of a stellar director . Actors of the film "Big Eyes" were delighted with lemon wigs, acid-blue pools and pale pink wall decorations. On this issue, friction on the set did not arise.

Plot

The plot of the drama "Big Eyes", the actors and roles of which were selected by the producer and co-writer of the script Scott Alexander, covers the end of the 1950s. Runaways heading to San Francisco, who meets their daughter and mother are not too welcoming. Margaret, to ensure existence, begins to sell his work. Her drawings are interested in the artist Walter Keane, who captivates a young woman and leads her down the aisle. A family idyll is running a successful business: Margaret paints, and Walter sells them. Soon, the United States became known postcards and posters with the signature "Kin." The only caveat is that everyone around him considers Walter the author and does not know anything about Margaret. In the spirit of the late 50s, when the world was swept by a second wave of feminism, the heroine decides on a personal rebellion.

Central characters

Actors are given to the picture by actors playing the first plan. "Big Eyes" adorn Amy Adams and Christoph Wolz. Amy perfectly played almost Monroe, the bright blonde of the 60s. Christophe also managed to interest the viewer, although at times he bothered with active facial expressions, pantomime and obsessive comic. Actors composed a successful, organic duet. They especially succeeded in those scenes that are saturated with drama than those that are designed to make fun. However, a couple of charismatic characters are still lost behind Bertan's familiar companions - the dusk of the night and the bright tones of the day. The director clearly prefers creativity: working with graphics, film, paper and active communication with others, so his characters also turn into recluses. In this picture, Walter is always dissatisfied, and Margaret is locked in his little world.

Leading actors

Actress Amy Adams is a five-time Oscar nominee. Adams regularly receives the highest reviews for his work in the next film. The girl is known to a wide audience by the paintings: “The Master” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the tragicomedy “American Scam” and, of course, “Big Eyes”. The actors who worked with Amy call her one of the most extraordinary and promising actresses of our time.

Christoph Waltz, known to the wider cinema community for his role as Hans Landa, SS Standartenfuhrer in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. And the domestic audience will certainly recognize the actor as the leading actor in the Austrian series “Commissar Rex”. More relevant than ever

Like a biopic, Big Eyes (the actors who participated in the project confirm this fact) are noticeably superior to the biographical drama Ed Wood. In the “Eyes” there are all the fundamental components: the development of characters, conflict, a turning point and its difficult overcoming. If we consider the film as an immersion in the era, then it is unusually attractive and beautiful, reflects the subtleties of the 50s of the last century. Thematic drama is more relevant than ever, at all times there has been and will be a battle of creators and sellers.
