What is divergent and insurgent? Quite strange and incomprehensible names. Surely many viewers and book lovers asked a similar question, meeting mention of this in literature and cinema. What is it, try to figure it out.
A bit of history
The very concept of insurgents is rooted in the distant past. In previous centuries, an insurgent is a rebel or armed detachment. They had a number of specific features. So, all of them were representatives of the civilian population, opposing the foundations and laws of power.
Due to less military force, insurgents use terrorist acts or guerrilla warfare. Thus, an insurgent is a paramilitary group with the goal of overthrowing the current government or changing a particular regime. The acquisition of national independence is set as additional priorities.
This concept is associated with several well-known uprisings that have a pronounced political character. In a narrower sense, an insurgent is a person who opposes the government, does not pursue its principles and state structure and is considered a political (but not criminal) criminal. Closely related to this is the concept of rebellion.
Some literature
The American writer Veronica Roth introduced these concepts. Her trilogy includes the following works: “Divergent”, “Insurgent”, “Alligator”. All of them are arranged in the order of publication of books and events arising from the plot. Each piece is designed in the style of dystopia.
The story comes down to ruined Chicago. In order to prevent the rest of the world from perishing from human vices, people formed five closed castes, each of which fulfills its function: fearlessness, sincerity, renunciation, friendliness, erudition. Those who are not ranked among any of them remain bezfraktsionnikami.
Adaptations - to be!
All parts of the novel appeared on book shelves between 2011 and 2013. In 2014, the film adaptation of the first book took place. Divergent literally translates as “divergent”.
In the second part, the film “Insurgent” was shot. Its premiere in Russia is scheduled for March 18, 2015. This is a continuation of the story of Tobias and Tris, who are trying to change the present on the remaining ruins of humanity. In this context, an insurgent is a rebel who continues to fight against imposed foundations.
The final part of "Alligator" is planned to be broken down into two independent films. The preliminary release date is 2016 and 2017, respectively.
