Dmitry Mednikov is a famous Russian journalist. He is also actively involved in social activities. He implements projects as a producer in films and on television. The beginning of the biography

In the last year of the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University, he joined the Directorate of Information Programs. He worked here in the international department, which since 2002 was reorganized into the department of international and regional information.
In leadership positions
Soon, from journalistic work, he moved to leadership positions and concentrated on the activities of the producer. So, in the spring of 2006, he joined the leadership of the newly created All-Russian information channel Vesti 24, taking the post of chief editor. The first domestic round-the-clock channel, entirely devoted to news, Dmitry Mednikov managed until 2012.
In parallel, he headed the editorial office of the sports channel "Russia 2", from 2012 to 2013 he was exclusively engaged in this work. Immersion in production work
The first serious project for Mednikov-producer was a mini-series about the anomalous risk zone "Immersion". The All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company supported this film.
Mednikov began work together with two other producers - Alexei Kurenkov, known for the TV series "Foreign Affairs", and Dmitry Paklin, who worked in the movie "For You" with Svetlana Khodchenkova.
"Immersion" is a fascinating story about divers. People who have been striving for all their lives to find something new and unusual in the mysterious underwater world. The main character Igor is a classic black digger. He is a romantic and adventurer, constantly looking for new thrills, seeks to experience something unusual and unique. Together with his brother, he goes in search of an abandoned quarry, in which, according to stories, a cache is located. In it, they expect to find traces of an ancient abandoned settlement.
To their great surprise and, of course, joy, they quickly discover this quarry. Almost immediately, they begin to prepare for the first dive. However, a terrible and unexpected surprise awaits them. Under water is a mysterious anomalous zone.
"Calculator"
The most high-profile producer project of Mednikov was the sci-fi movie "The Calculator", which was directed by Dmitry Grachev.
The action of the picture takes place in the future on a distant planet where people settled. Here is a very harsh and inhospitable environment, but you do not have to choose. People live in colonies on patches of land reclaimed from the swamps surrounding them. This state is dominated by totalitarianism. At the same time, the death penalty is prohibited on the planet. Therefore, prisoners who are convicted of serious crimes are sentenced to exile. It actually replaces the death penalty in this world. There is a chance to survive, but it is fantastically small.
At the very beginning of the film, another batch of prisoners is planted in the Sargasso swamp. There is no food, no water, no people. Only occasionally can you find small groups of prisoners who managed to survive, but as a result they turned into semi-animals. There is no other way in these conditions.
At the same time, among the prisoners there is a legend about the Happy Islands, on which there is everything for a favorable life. However, getting to them is not easy, and not everyone is sure that they even exist. The main characters Erwin, nicknamed the Calculator (Eugene Mironov), and Christie (Anna Chipovskaya) are sent to these islands.
The rest of the prisoners, led by experienced gangster Just (Vinnie Jones), go in the opposite direction, hoping to get to an abandoned prison, where there is at least some chance to survive in the swamps.
However, at first their path often intersects. Intrigue adds that Erwin the Calculator held a very high position in the state before his arrest. Therefore, he is sure that the government will decide not to hope that he himself will die in the swamps, and he will act for sure - he will organize his murder.
Failure of the "Calculator"
The film was released in 2014 and failed miserably at the box office. The All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, which together with Art Pictures Studio was engaged in its production, acknowledged the failure.
The budget of the picture was more than two million dollars. The profit from cinemas was less than 50 million rubles.
At the same time, almost all domestic and foreign film critics defeated the blockbuster. At best, he was rated as average and outstanding. The Internet publications Pravda.ru and Film.ru have released devastating reviews.
The main claim that the audience presented to the picture - it was simply boring. In addition, the installation and quality of special effects were doubtful, which were clearly saved.
The only ones who deserved positive reviews were actors Yevgeny Mironov and Anna Chipovskaya, who really worked fruitfully on their images.
The most caustic film critics compared it to an episode of a low-grade television show of the mid-80s, noting a large number of cliches, a common plot that falls apart due to a bunch of inconsistencies.
Uppercut for Hitler
After such a serious setback, Mednikov soon enough returned to major production projects. In 2016, he and the director Denis Neimand directed the military historical and drama series Uppercut for Hitler. The main roles in it are played by Anton Momot and Polina Tolstun.
The script of the picture is based on real events. The story tells about the secret operation of Soviet intelligence during the Great Patriotic War to organize the assassination of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
The main character Igor Miklashevsky goes to Germany under the guise of a deserter who decided to go over to the side of the Fuhrer. The Germans, of course, are distrustful of him. Therefore, the scout has to endure torture and many hours of interrogation. Only after that he was taken to serve in the German army. He finds himself an adjutant to SS Standartenfuhrer Walter Schloss, known for his passion for gambling.
The piquancy of the picture adds a lyrical line. Miklashevsky falls in love with a French coherent of Russian origin - Nastya Shuvalova. Largely thanks to her support, he manages to play the role of "his" behind enemy lines. Over time, he gets close to the top leadership of the Nazi party and to his main goal - Adolf Hitler.
A 4-episode film was released on the Rossiya television channel.
Private life
Dmitry Mednikov, whose biography is closely related to television, is actively engaged in public work. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Russian Geographical Society and the Sparta football club near Moscow from Schelkovo, speaking in the Third Football Division.
In his free time he is fond of chess, travel, karate and shooting sports.
