The fact that sometimes a dog vomits white foam has its own explanation. This phenomenon is observed in an animal when, several hours after a meal, the contents of the stomach are pushed fully into the intestines, and it remains empty. At the same time, mucus is secreted in it, which helps to protect its walls from corroding by gastric juice. This substance (mucus) contains polysaccharides and proteins, which in the process of swallowing air contribute to the formation of mass with a cellular structure.
When a dog vomits white foam, this is an indication of the absence of severe symptoms with an empty stomach. A single such phenomenon does not require any treatment. In the event that the dog vomits regularly with white foam, it is necessary to show the animal to the veterinarian.
If the fasting occurs in a dog like this, then this indicates a disturbed process of separation of bile, which should enter the intestine after eating. In this case, the secretion of fluid in the animal by the liver occurs during hunger hours. As a result of such a violation, intestinal irritation occurs, which provokes the transport of bile into the stomach. For this reason, the dog vomits white foam, after which the animal wakes up a desire to eat. This condition is considered normal if it occurs no more than once during the week.
A similar condition in dogs caused by fasting vomiting involves treatment. It consists in the addition of food with a large amount of fat to the diet, as well as feeding more often, but in smaller portions. Sometimes, when the dog vomits white foam, choleretic drugs are used, for example,
stigmas of corn or Odeston. If this condition becomes regular and is accompanied by a deterioration in the condition of the pet, you should immediately contact your veterinarian.
It also happens that there is vomiting with blood in the dog. Blotches can have a different shade - from scarlet to brown and the color of coffee. First of all, with this phenomenon, you need to inspect the jaws of the animal and make sure that there are no injuries on it. When a dog vomits red blood, this may be a signal of damage to the stomach or intestines, or rather, their upper sections (esophagus, pharynx). Also, this case may be due to inflammation of the teeth and gums, tumors and trauma to the jaws of the animal by a foreign body.
Particular attention should be paid to the area under the tongue, since there may be a loop of thread, not swallowed incompletely (the dog could pick it up somewhere). At its other end, which is probably already inside the animal, there may be a foreign body scratching the walls of the stomach or provoking obstruction. Therefore, the pet and vomiting occurs with a blood spot. Among other things, the cause of this phenomenon in a dog can be acute gastritis, which is caused by the use of poor-quality food, as well as systemic pathological processes - liver or kidney failure in the chronic stage, tumors in the intestines and stomach.
In any case, when blood elements appear in the vomit, the animal must be shown to the veterinarian.
