Biography: early years, education

Anatoly Belkin was born in Moscow on September 27 in 1953. Little is known about his family and early childhood. Probably, the Belkins were an ordinary Soviet family of the time, and the childhood of the future artist passed in the same way as any child.

If many creative figures initially received a profession in some other direction, and later discovered a craving for art, then Anatoly Belkin initially knew what he wanted to do in life.

Belkin received his education in Leningrad. At the age of 10, he entered the Johanson High School of Art, which he graduated in 1970. Immediately after graduating from art school, Anatoly Belkin entered the Repin Institute of Painting, Architecture and Sculpture at the graphic department. However, two years later he was expelled for unknown reasons.

Debut and first fame

The young painter was one of the youngest participants in the Gazanev movement. โ€œGazanevschinaโ€ refers to the activities of nonconformist artists in Leningrad. The word itself was formed from the names of the two most popular exhibition venues: DK Gaza and DK Nevsky.

Belkin participated in many exhibitions of "unofficial art." The first appearance of his work in public took place in 1974. Three years later, a personal exhibition of the artist was organized in the Dzerzhinsky Palace of Culture.

Further activities

In 1976, paintings by the artist Anatoly Belkin began to appear at exhibitions abroad: in New York, Washington, San Francisco, San Louis, Paris and other cities.

Anatoly Belkin, artist

In 1999, Belkin founded a glossy magazine called Sobaka.ru. The publication talks about life in St. Petersburg, informs readers about the most interesting events and events taking place in the city, and interviews famous people. For six years, Anatoly Belkin was the chief editor, after which he voluntarily left this post in order to engage in new projects.

At the moment, the artist lives and works in St. Petersburg. His paintings can be seen in the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, Erart Museum of Modern Art and other collections.
