The creators of the picture
In the series about border guards, not only the actors changed from film to film. Over the ten years of filming, āState Borderā has replaced three directors.
From 80 to 84, Boris Stepanov worked on the project. Stepanov - a native of Belarus, graduated from VGIK. He also shot the drama "Alpine Ballad" and the film "Wolf Pack".
Vyacheslav Nikiforov, who directed the second episode of the epic "Empire under attack" and the series "At anonymous height", directed the fifth film, entitled "Year Forty-First."
Parts called "Salty Wind" and "On the Far Frontier" were included in the filmography of director Gennady Ivanov. Before the "State Border" Ivanov shot a fantastic film called "The Seven Elements" with Irina Alferova.
All eight films of the cycle were shot at the Belarusfilm studio. Behind the camera stood a graduate of VGIK Boris Olifer, who worked on the paintings āFlameā and āNative Dealā.
Series Structure
"State Border" - a television series in which the actors changed with each new part. All eight films are separate works that are united only by a common theme - the service of the border troops of the USSR.
At the beginning of the picture, the viewer gets acquainted with Vladimir Danovich, who served during the existence of the empire in the border troops and remained there to serve under the Bolsheviks. Vladimir had to exert all his restraint and courage to find his place in the new state and restore order in the border services.
In the second part of the epic, Danovich and his comrades in the service try to repel the attacks on the Soviet border by bandits and white emigrants.
The third film takes place in the late 1920s, when a conflict occurred on the Sino-Soviet border.
The painting āRed Sandā takes us to the 30s, during the confrontation with the Basmachi on the Turkmen border.
The fifth film is a story about the heroic service of border guards in the troubled 41 years when the troops of the Third Reich invaded the territory of the Union Republics.
The next part talks about upholding the territorial integrity of Western Ukraine immediately after the Great Patriotic War.
The penultimate film tells about border operations that took place in the late 50s, and the final picture takes the viewer to the times of the late 80s.
āState Borderā: actors and roles. Igor Starygin as Vladimir Danovich
Igor Starygin is well known to Soviet and Russian viewers for the role of Aramis in a series of paintings about The Three Musketeers. In the series āState Borderā, the actor was assigned the role of a principal officer Danovich, who remained faithful to his homeland, despite the change of power.
It was not difficult for Igor Starygin to play the military: since childhood, he well remembered the character and behavior of his father (military pilot) and grandfather (high-ranking NKVD officer).
Starygin turned out to be a student of GITIS by accident: it was just exams in the theater earlier than in law. Igor successfully passed them and decided that since they accepted him, it means that this is fate. In this situation, many famous actors have visited.
The āState Borderā glorified Starygin even more than the āD'Artagnan and the Three Musketeersā project. The image of Aramis on the screens was not allotted so much time, but in the first two parts of the epic about the border guards, the artist had more chances to show his talent and character.

At first, a conflict ensues with Danovich, but as soon as Ivan is convinced of Vladimirās allegiance, they become friends. Danovich even names his son in honor of a friend. Together, these heroes serve in the renewed border troops.
