The drug "Cordinorm", instructions for use reports, is produced in the form of tablets, film-coated. The international nonproprietary name is bisoprolol.

One tablet contains five milligrams of bisoprolol fumarate - the main active ingredient. Additional components - macrogol 6000, microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol, magnesium stearate and titanium dioxide.

Five or ten milligrams of tablets are on sale. On one side there is a risk and engraving "B5" or "B10". The drug belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group of selective beta-1 adrenergic blockers.

The considered tool "Cordinorm", the instruction reports, provides a decrease in myocardial oxygen demand, as well as a decrease in the frequency of heart contractions both at rest and during exercise.

The medication is characterized by a high degree of absorption (about eighty to ninety percent), and eating does not affect absorption. In addition, the drug crosses the placental and blood-brain barrier in minimal volumes. A small amount is found in breast milk.

The period during which the medication is half eliminated from the body can range from nine to twelve hours. About ninety-eight percent is excreted through the kidneys, the other two with bile.

The specified drug is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity of the patient to bisoprolol and its other components. It is not prescribed for pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock, collapse, acute or chronic heart failure, severe bradycardia, cardiomegaly, hypotension, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, concomitant use of MAO inhibitors, Raynaud's disease, pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, and also persons under the age of eighteen.

The specified drug should be used for two and a half to five milligrams at a time. Tablets are taken orally, in the morning before meals, without chewing. The daily volume is usually 5 mg, if necessary, it can be doubled (on the recommendation of the attending physician). Elderly patients do not adjust the dose.

Possible side effects: weakness, dizziness, increased fatigue, headaches, sleep disturbances, nightmares, depression, tremors and some other dysfunctions of the central nervous system. In addition, a decrease in the production of tear fluid, impaired vision, conjunctivitis, dry eyes and mucous membranes of the oral cavity, pain in the abdomen, vomiting, nausea, and malfunctioning of the liver are not ruled out. In hypersensitive patients, skin rash, itching, urticaria, and other allergic reactions were observed.

An overdose of Cordinorm, the reviews of patients confirm this, accompanied by severe headaches, fainting, cramps, bronchospasm, difficulty breathing.

It is noted that the simultaneous use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and the specified medication weakens the hypotensive effect produced by the latter.
