The future singer was born in 1950, on March 19, in the Astrakhan region, in the family of Georgy Ivanovich Babkin, a descendant of the Cossacks who served in the white army. The family of Chistyakov, from whom Nadezhda’s mother came, Tamara Alexandrovna, in the pre-revolutionary time owned one of the Moscow manufactories.
In 1957, the daughter was sent to the first grade of a secondary school in the village of Bolkhuny, where Georgy Ivanovich was appointed collective farm chairman. Armenians, Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians, Cossacks, and Chechens lived in the village, so guests of different nationalities often appeared in their house. The girl fell in love in early childhood. Noisy companies often held various masquerades with songs and dances, Nadezhda's father played all kinds of musical instruments, so the girl grew up in a festive atmosphere and was a very artistic child. Already in the tenth grade, she earned the recognition of her talent, taking first place at the All-Russian contest of young performers in the genre of "Folk Song". Her idol at that time was Lyudmila Zykina, the songs of which she often re-sang.

After school (in 1967), the girl entered the music school in Astrakhan. And already in 1969, she became the vocalist of the orchestra of the regional department of cinema and film distribution. Before the film, Babkina always performed, for which the audience came to the session half an hour earlier. While studying at the school, Nadezhda met with the composer Gladchenko, with whom they prepared more than a hundred songs together. In 1971, the girl graduated from college and went to conquer Moscow. Having easily entered the Gnesins Institute, she began to take confident steps towards her dream of becoming a great artist. In 1975, Nadezhda and her friends began to “write” the history of the Russian Song ensemble. At first, the girls gathered in the hostel, rehearsed for long evenings and presented themselves on the big stage. Popularity did not come right away, at first a few spectators came to their concerts in small towns. Only at the USSR Song Contest, held in Sochi in 1976, talented friends were noticed.

After the sensational success in Sochi, the Russian Song ensemble received gold at a competition in Bratislava in 1978, and also won first place in the second Song of the USSR contest in 1979. Since 1978, the team begins work under the leadership of Babkina at the Moskontsert.
