The drug "Venter" is available in the form of oval white tablets, having a notch in the center on both sides. The active ingredient is sucralfate, excipients: talc, corn starch, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.

The drug is included in the pharmacotherapeutic group of drugs for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux and peptic ulcers.

Sucralfate (active ingredient) provides protection of the gastric mucosa, while slightly affecting the acidity of the juice. The substance does not have a systemic effect. A small amount of sucralfate is absorbed, then excreted by the kidneys.

The active component is able to bind to proteins in necrotic tissue in the ulcer, to form a protective coating. This interferes with the action of bile salts, gastric acid and pepsin. Sucralfate is able to reduce pepsin activity by about a third.

The active ingredient accelerates the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, eliminates moderate and small esophageal inflammation. In addition, the substance prevents the repeated development of duodenal ulcers, the formation of stress ulcers and the absorption of phosphates in the gastrointestinal tract.

The drug is recommended for the treatment of gastritis (chronic). As an adjunct therapy, the medicine "Venter" the instruction allows for use with duodenal, gastric ulcer. In addition, the medication is recommended as a prevention of re-development of these diseases, as well as to reduce hyperphosphatemia in patients on dialysis with uremia.

The drug should be taken on an empty stomach, one hour or half an hour before meals. The tablets can be swallowed whole, washed down with liquid (water), or dissolved in water (in half a glass).

For duodenal or gastric ulcers, a tablet is prescribed before each (main) meal (dinner, lunch, breakfast) and one tablet at bedtime. The duration of treatment should not be more than twelve weeks. The doctor may recommend the use of the drug twice a day in two tablets. The medicine "Venter" instruction recommends the use of four to eight weeks, or until the moment when the research results confirm the elimination of the ulcer.

For the prevention of relapse (reappearance) of a duodenal ulcer, a tablet is recommended twice a day.

Adverse reactions from the use of the drug can be flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, dry mouth, nausea and other gastrointestinal disorders. In addition, itching, hives, rashes, back pain, headache, drowsiness or insomnia, dizziness may occur. The most common side effect is constipation.

Medication "Venter" is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients.

Intoxication from a single increased dose of sucralfate is unlikely. Some patients when taking the drug in large quantities noted vomiting, stomach pain, nausea. In case of an overdose, symptomatic treatment is recommended .

The use of the drug "Venter" during pregnancy and lactation is allowed in extreme cases as directed by a doctor.

In clinical practice, cases of the influence of this medication on the ability to drive technical means (by car and others) are not described.

The shelf life of the drug is three years, at a temperature of less than twenty-five degrees, out of the reach of children and protected from moisture. After this period, the drug can not be used.
