Before the release of the film “12 Chairs” (1971), the actor Archil Gomiashvili had already played eight roles in the movie. But fame came to him, of course, thanks to the comedy of Gaidai.

Archil Gomiashvili was born in 1926 in the city of Chiatura. He graduated from the Tbilisi Art College. Once an actor told reporters an amazing incident that happened to him in his youth. He rode on the train, and on the road he had a dream in which all his future fate was told. Gomiashvili assured that at the age of sixteen he already knew what would happen to him next. Did he know that someday he would play one of the most popular literary characters?

After graduating from the Art College, Archil Gomiashvili left for Moscow. He entered the Moscow Art Theater School, which, however, could not be completed. Archil studied for several years, but because of the scandal caused by the fight, he had to leave the capital. In Tbilisi, Gomiashvili joined the troupe of the Academic Theater. Then he worked for several years in Poti.

In the early seventies, the actor managed to get a role that made him popularly known. Two years after the release of 12 Chairs, Gomiashvili was invited to Lenkom, where he worked for several years. After he worked at the Pushkin Theater. The actor played in the films “Mimino”, “Early, Early Morning”, “Copper Angel”, “My Favorite Clown”, “Stalingrad”, “Angels of Death”, “Tragedy of the Century”.

Archil Gomiashvili passed away in 2005. He was buried in Moscow, at the Troekurovsky cemetery.

The performer of the role of Kisa Vorobyaninova (Sergey Filippov) was born in 1912 in Saratov. The father of the future actor was a locksmith. Mother is a dressmaker. At school, Filippov studied poorly. Moreover, he was expelled for hooliganism, after which he got a job as a baker. Subsequently, he tried many professions. Once an incident brought Filippov to a ballet studio, where in just a few weeks he demonstrated amazing abilities. At the age of 17, the aspiring artist went to the capital.

Filippov failed to make a career at the Bolshoi Theater: he had a heart disease. For some time he performed exclusively on pop venues. And in 1937 he received his first film role.

Sergey Filippov played in the films Tamer of the Tigers, Reserve Player, Carnival Night, Alien, Snow Maiden. One of his last roles, the actor performed in the film "Dog Heart".

At the beginning of the filming of the film “12 Chairs”, a brain tumor was discovered in him. Gaidai already wanted to invite Rostislav Plyatt to the role of Vorobyaninov. However, Filippov insisted that he would be removed in any case. The actor died 19 years after the release of the film adaptation of the book of Ilf and Petrov.
