The drug "Troxevasin" - gel and capsules: indications for use and the expected effect

"Troxevasin" is a drug that effectively affects the walls of large vessels and capillaries. It strengthens them and reduces their fragility, increases tone, fights inflammatory manifestations, has an anticoagulant effect and prevents platelet adhesion to the walls of blood vessels. In addition, troxevasin, gel or capsules, has a pronounced antioxidant effect. Due to these properties, the drug is actively used in medical practice for diseases such as varicose veins, thrombophlebitis and periphlebitis. The active ingredient in troxevasin is the flavonoid troxerutin.

In chronic venous insufficiency, especially accompanied by pain and swelling, the use of the drug "Troxevasin" is also indicated. In this case, the gel is usually combined with capsules (2 capsules per day, the maintenance dose is 1 capsule). Thanks to this drug, the manifestations of venous insufficiency are significantly reduced: pain becomes weaker, edema subsides, and varicose ulcers form less often. Troxevasin-gel is able to cope with the unpleasant sensations of "fullness" and heaviness in the legs. Thanks to its use, convulsions caused by venous insufficiency become much less pronounced, and unaesthetic vascular β€œstars” become less noticeable. In addition, troxevasin prevents the appearance of new telangiectasias. It is also successfully used for the treatment of bruises: edema of traumatic origin in this case is much faster.

Troxevasin capsules are indicated for use in hemorrhoids, including those that developed during pregnancy (starting from its second trimester, only as directed by a doctor!). They bring significant relief, reducing itching and pain, eliminating and preventing bleeding. They should be taken twice a day. The initial dose is two to three capsules (600-900 mg) per day. The intake of such a dose is usually prescribed for a period of two weeks, after which it is usually revised upward or downward, or treatment is canceled altogether if the desired effect has been achieved. However, it persists for at least four more weeks. The total duration of the course depends on the severity of the symptoms of the disease - on average, it is three to four weeks. As maintenance therapy, one troxevasin capsule per day may be recommended for two or more weeks.

Troxevasin-gel for external use is supplied in tubes of 40 g. One gram of this product contains 20 mg of troxerutin. It is applied to problem areas twice a day, morning and evening, gently rubbing it into the skin. After half an hour or an hour, its active substances penetrate the skin, and after a couple of hours into the subcutaneous fat. This remedy can only be used with intact skin: if it has open wounds, eczema and other lesions, it is strictly forbidden to use troxevasin gel! The instruction warns about the inadmissibility of its use on the mucous membranes.

Taking troxevasin capsules is contraindicated during pregnancy, as well as in peptic ulcer and gastritis. For allergies and sensitive skin, troxevasin gel should be used with caution . Instructions for use of this tool warns of possible side effects: burning and itching, redness of the skin and rashes. Urticaria and eczema may occur while taking troxevasin in capsules. The drug should be stopped immediately and consult a specialist for the appointment of antihistamines. A doctor’s consultation is also needed when treatment with troxevasin for several weeks does not bring the desired effect. In this case, it is necessary to replace it with another drug of a similar action.
