Facts from the biography
Eduard Martsevich - a native of Tbilisi, he was born on December 29, 1936. He can be considered a successor to the acting dynasty, since his father taught at a theater studio in Baku, and his mother was engaged in promptering. And then one day the theater went on tour to the Georgian capital, where Eduard Martsevich was born.
The boy’s childhood passed behind the curtains. He liked to watch his father masterfully play. Eduard Martsevich, whose biography is unusually interesting, while still a boy, began to enjoy the unique atmosphere that always reigns in the Melpomene church, trying not to miss a single rehearsal and performance. Before the war, the family in which Martsevich grew up split up: his father and mother decided to divorce.
Post-war years
After the end of World War II, the actor’s father (Evgeny Mikhailovich) ended up in Vilnius. In the Lithuanian capital, he continues to teach, choosing a drama club at a local communications club. Soon Eduard is moving to Vilnius with his mother and her new husband. Then the boy meets with his father. After that, Eduard often visited the communications club, where he signed up in several circles at once in order to be closer to Yevgeny Mikhailovich.
The guy asks his father to write him in his circle, but he was in no hurry to fulfill the request of his son, doubting that he had a talent for acting. However, the younger Martsevich was not going to give up so easily. Once he read poetry so emotionally and expressively that Yevgeny Mikhailovich began to reproach himself for not believing in his own son, and took him to the drama circle.
Years of study
Of course, Eduard from a young age understood that he was destined for one way in life - the theater. He applied immediately to several higher educational institutions, where he taught acting. In GITIS, he had to hear a disappointing verdict from examiners: he has no talent for acting. However, in other universities, members of the selection committee had a radically opposite point of view. So he was enrolled in the students of the Shchepkinsky school. Here, his eminent director Konstantin Zubov becomes his mentor. Together with him, the basics of acting were comprehended by the now famous Stanislav Lyubshin and Nelly Kornienko. In his final year, Martsevich thoroughly worked on his thesis.
He managed to naturally transform into the image of Alexei in the production of “Optimistic Tragedy” by Korshunov. It is noteworthy that Edward was originally supposed to play a deaf and dumb officer. When his beloved director Nikolai Okhlopkov died, and his place was taken by colleagues who radically changed the “artistic” vector, Edward realized that he could no longer work in this theater.
Movie work
In cinema, Martsevich began to try himself in his student years. The first exit to the set took the form of Arkady Kirsanov, when they shot the famous Turgenev's work “Fathers and Sons”.
This role was remembered by the directors, and the actor began to engage more often in the cinema. In particular, Sergey Bondarchuk approved Martsevich for the role of Boris Drubetskoy, and Boris Barnet invited the actor to play Vovka in the film "Annushka".

In 1987, Eduard Evgenievich was awarded the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR. Ten years later he was awarded the Order of Friendship, he was awarded the medal "In memory of the 850th anniversary of Moscow" and "Veteran of Labor".
The maestro liked to spend his leisure time reading Russian classics and listening to the music of Schubert, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky. The actor liked to be in nature, although he was not an avid hunter and fisherman.

Personal life
In his personal life, Martsevich was a very happy person. His wife Liliya Osmanova worked as an employee of a banking institution. She bore him two sons: Cyril and Philip. Siblings became the successors of the acting dynasty. The first son, like his father, is a graduate of the Shchepkinsky school. He serves in the Moscow drama theater "Modern" under the direction of People's Artist S. A. Vragova. Son Philip graduated from the Higher Theater School. M. S. Shchepkina in 2001. Since 2005 he has been playing on the stage of the Maly Theater.
In the last years of his life, the actor’s health left much to be desired. He was sick for a long time. After another exacerbation, the actor was taken to the Botkin Hospital, but his health condition did not improve, on the contrary, Eduard Evgenievich became even worse. In early October, it was decided to hospitalize the actor at the Sklifosovsky Institute (Department of Acute Endotoxicosis). He died on October 12, 2013. The death of Eduard Martsevich shocked the audience and his colleagues in the Maly Theater. He died without regaining consciousness. But those roles that Eduard Martsevich brilliantly played were remembered. The cause of death of the actor is cirrhosis. He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery of the capital.
