Now itβs hard to find someone who has not seen the Harry Potter movie, and even more so who has not heard anything about him. The multi-million dollar budget invested in the film adaptation of the book paid off with interest. More importantly, this story was able to spawn a new universe, with its own rules and laws. But if the fans of the book know that the Muggle is a person without magical powers, then for less enlightened people this concept is a mystery covered in darkness.
Naturally, there seems to be no big trouble in such ignorance, but what to do when the children involved in the film ask: βAnd who are the Muggles?β
A little bit about witchcraft in the world of Harry Potter
Not all people in Joan Rowling's book are capable of using magic. It is not known where the first wizards got their strength, but as the story develops, it becomes apparent that some of them do not like ordinary people - Muggles.
Perhaps the reason for this is that the Muggle is a person who is completely devoid of witchcraft power. He cannot see, feel, and even more so use objects endowed with magic. Therefore, many wizards and consider them a weak and helpless appearance, unable to compete with them.
In the film itself, there are no Muggles among the main characters. Nevertheless, in the story, the viewer sometimes encounters Muggle characters. For example, children from the shelter where Tom Reddle lived . But more often than not, the Dursleys appear on the screen, who takes care of Harry after the death of his parents. And although family members know that Potter is a magician, they themselves do not possess such power.
The laws of heredity
Let the Muggle be a simple man, yet he is able to marry a wizard or sorceress. Most likely, their child will be endowed with magical power, but at the same time other magicians will consider him a half-breed. Moreover, some wizards obsessed with purity of blood relate to such children with open contempt.
But those who were born in a family where both parents are Muggles are much worse off. Let this happen very rarely, but it does happen, later these children are called muggle-born.
There is also a third type of children - squibs. They are born from the union of two magicians, but at the same time they are completely devoid of magical power. This is a real grief for parents, especially for those who keep purity of blood from generation to generation.
Order of the Death Eaters
Let wizards and muggles live side by side in a world invented by Joan Rowling, the former are much higher on the hierarchical ladder. Some wizards even hate ordinary people, and even more so their children born with magical powers.
Such hatred led to the founding of the Order of the Death Eaters, led by Voldemort. They believed in the dominance of purebred magicians and destroyed everyone who tried to prove the opposite. But at the same time, the dark lord himself was born a half-blood, because his father is a muggle. This affected his ideas about the future of the magical world.
Thus, in the Harry Potter film, there is a certain division into classes akin to modern racism. As in reality, and in a fictional world, the βflawedβ classes succumbed to frequent repression and humiliation, but, ultimately, good triumphed. The wizarding world has changed for the better, including in its relation to the Muggles.
