Gottlieb Roninson is a Soviet theater and film actor. One of the leading actors on the Taganka in his heyday. He starred in many paintings and won the love of the audience.
Biography
Gottlieb Mikhailovich Roninson was born on February 12, 1916 in Vilna, which is located in Lithuania. The city in those years was occupied by German troops. In the early 1920s, the family moved to Moscow, where the mother identified Gottlieb in a children's choir.
Childhood
Gottlieb Roninson got his first stage skills in the choir at the Bolshoi Theater. He dreamed of becoming an actor since childhood. Once, Vladimir Lenin himself entered the kindergarten where Gottlieb was brought up. He examined all the rooms there and began to communicate with the children. Asked Roninson what he wants to become when he grows up, he heard: "An artist." The actor himself, when he grew up, did not remember a meeting with Vladimir Ilyich. But the mother of Gottlieb Roninson did not lose the opportunity to tell a funny story.
I heard the first applause in my direction thanks to Maxim Gorky. At one of the events, the pioneer Roninson personally met with the writer and shook his hand. However, Gottlieb got on stage thanks in part to Bulgakov.
For five years, the future actor sang in the choir, after which he got into the mimance group. Gottlieb was enthusiastic about the matter. This feature liked Bulgakov, who at that time wrote the text for a new opera. He gave the boy his autographed portrait. Once, he even turned to a request to Ruben Simonov to take Gosha to school. They did not want to take the little boy because of burr. Roninson almost stuttered after he was raped by a ballet dancer who performed at the Bolshoi Theater. Repeatedly, the boy was bullied by classmates due to speech problems. Youth
Gottlieb Roninson grew up without a father. It was necessary to bring up the mother's boy alone. He went to work early, not even graduating from a dozen. With warmth, he treated only his mother. Unlike his father, who did not care about his wife and son, Gottlieb always respected his mother and tried not to upset him. Maybe this was the reason that he did not get married and lived all his life with Tatyana Gotlibovna until her death.
Theater School
After the evacuation, the Roninson family returned to the capital. All this time, Gottlieb did not leave the dream of becoming a famous actor. He enters the Shchukin Theater School. By the way, such famous personalities as Etush Vladimir and Nina Arkhipova studied with him. Here he received the role of an actor in a comedy genre.
Gottlieb Roninson, whose photo could be found in many Soviet newspapers, was educated by talented teachers. As Gottlib Mikhailovich himself admitted: "Here we received the first lessons of responsiveness."
There was a war. Learning was hard. Students visited teachers, where the first thing they got into the kitchen. We ate what happened. Gottlieb did not forget his warm attitude towards himself even after many years.
Maly Theater on Taganka
In 1946, actor Gottlieb Roninson managed to get into the troupe of a branch of the Maly Theater. The main repertoire included plays by Soviet writers and classics. Roninson received not only the roles of a comedy plan, but also a dramatic one. However, he could become famous precisely as a comedian. Gottlieb got the lead role in the production of Fakir for an Hour. She became for him the first and only main role in theatrical productions. Subsequently, he only got episodic scenes. In the movie, by the way, too.
Roninson Qualities
Despite the absence of the main roles, Gottlib Mikhailovich could combine several qualities that today can be called outstanding. The actor even in the episodes gave all the best. With a few words, expressions, he could describe his hero. A short reaction to a certain event - and the viewer already knows what the character is, who he was and what he will do next.
In the production of “Ten Days That Shook the World,” Roninson Gottlieb Mikhailovich managed to play eight roles. All characters were completely different. As many believed, Roninson had the gift of reincarnation. He could play any character in a variety of situations.
Once Gottlieb had to play the role of a drunkard in one of the productions of Seraphim Birman. I must say that the actor was a convinced teetotaler. He couldn’t play correctly. He swayed, stumbled, but there was no result. Even Birman began to resent that the actor could not play a simple role. Gottlieb received a warning to withdraw from the role.
In the evening, staggering along the streets of the capital, he saw a drunkard. The man’s legs were braided. So what? And I can do that, Gottlieb thought. In one of the eateries, he saw another drunkard and realized that this was what was needed. Roninson, without thinking twice, studied the type and went to a rehearsal. Birman thought the actor was drunk and tried to kick him out when she heard a general laugh.
In this episode, there was the whole of Gottlieb Roninson. Films with his participation took on a completely different, more vivid appearance. The actor tried to make every scene funny so that there were no sad faces left around. People laughed next to him. He excelled in the comedy genre. Here he was not passing through, like many other actors. His sense of humor was in his blood. Actors with such skills can be counted on the fingers.
People, meeting Gotlib Mikhailovich on the street, could not hide a smile. Friends, colleagues and children called him Uncle Gosha, but not with “you,” but with respect.
New Taganka
In April 1963, the premiere of the new production of "Good Man from Cezuan" took place. Yuri Lyubimov began to lead the theater, and a new era began in its history. At that time, Roninson was thinking about moving to another place, but he was persuaded to stay by Lyubimov, with whom they studied at almost the same time. He did not leave and subsequently did not regret it.
The actor fit perfectly into the new Taganka. Already in 1965, he played several roles at once in the production of Ten Days That Shook the World. The performance pleased the audience and presented Gottlieb with a movie ticket. At first, he refused to take part in the filming of films. The reason was that one director pointed to the non-photogenicity of Roninson.
Filming a movie
Very soon Gottlib Mikhailovich received a cameo role in Ryazanov’s film “Watch Out for the Car”. He played the director of the savings bank. After appearing on television, Roninson became recognizable. He continued to participate in productions. Still in episodic scenes. However, no performance could be imagined without Roninson.
Gottlieb usually appeared in films for several minutes, but many could envy his popularity. He managed to work with many famous actors and directors. After lightning glory in Beware of the Car, he was invited to other legendary films of Soviet cinema. For example, "12 Chairs" by Leonid Gaidai or the film by George Danelia "Afonya". Gottlieb Roninson managed to win the love of every spectator of the USSR with his insignificant roles.
He was often recognized on the street, approached and asked for an autograph. Often he made fun of and pretended to be an ordinary citizen, such as an accountant. And the fans did believe!
1980s
In the 80s, the roles in the theater and cinema, Gottlib Mikhailovich became less. In that decade, he appeared in only three films. In his native theater, where he worked for forty years, he only got old roles. Despite the lack of employment, the artist did not leave the theater. He did not even leave when some young actors began to make fun of him. Once he was thrown into the dressing room with white slippers and a wreath of condolences. Soon the joker, of course, apologized to the honored artist.
One thing is certain: it has become indispensable in art. Although the actor did not have serious characters, he earned popularity thanks to the episodes of which he was a master. He has a lot of fans who idolize his idol.
Last years
In the 90s, hard times came for Taganka. The troupe split, the health of Roninson himself was seriously impaired. He often became ill, underwent several serious operations, and now it was even difficult for him to move. He just slept at home. Despite the ailment, he continued to attend rehearsals, after which he walked the streets for a long time. Often Gottlib Mikhailovich was seen together with local children. He played with them, told some funny stories. Once in the street he found a puppy whom he took home. For six months the animal was his closest and dearest, and then disappeared. Roninson looked for him for a long time, tearing ads into pillars in tears.
The artist was always responsible and punctual. Colleagues did not remember that he was late for rehearsals. December 25, 1991 he did not come. The comrades went to his house in order to check if nothing had happened. Entering the apartment, they saw a terrible picture: Gottlieb Roninson was lying on the floor, he had a stroke, and a small tablet rolled out of his unclenched palm. There were two drunken caretakers in the room besides him. Gottlib Mikhailovich himself did not take alcohol in his mouth because of epilepsy, but he received expensive alcohol on business trips from fans. Over the years, he has accumulated a good collection of wines and cognacs with a long exposure. Often, he shared expensive drinks with friends, but still he had most of the bottles left.
Two alcoholic technicians (husband and wife) had already managed to drain almost all the bottles by that time. Roninson's body was taken to the morgue. Gottlib Mikhailovich carefully collected all reviews and letters, storing them in a table. All of them were thrown into the trash. The artist’s neighbor warned his friend, but he didn’t manage to arrive before the garbage collection. Roninson’s entire archive was destroyed.
Gottlib Mikhailovich’s apartment was looted that night. The neighbors carried everything that the artist carefully collected and stored. Scarce tape recorders, telephones, cameras - all this he brought from business trips. Nothing left. The apartment of the famous artist passed to the state. In addition to all this, he had a small amount of cash. He wanted them to go to an orphanage or church, but the Soviet Union collapsed and the money depreciated.
The tomb of Gottlieb Roninson is located in Lefortovo, at the Vvedensky cemetery. He was buried next to his mother. A monument is installed, which is a solid piece of granite. Gotlib Mikhailovich acquired this stone while he was still alive in the theater’s ornamental workshop.
