The series "Banshee" is a rare representative of the high-quality implementation of the idea due to the charisma of the actors, the elaboration of the plot and attention to details, rather than the voluminous budget or persons of famous idols of the world of cinema. The project turned out to be memorable, especially against the backdrop of popularization in the segment of similar paintings with stamped heroes, flat ideas and low-grade implementation. Actors of the Banshee series show a natural game, the environment is lively and attentive to the relationship between the characters, each character is unique in its own way. It is thanks to this that the project is still popular, despite the fact that the filming was curtailed, the first three seasons barely ended.
Plot and storytelling
The plot of the series develops around the sheriff of a small town in the United States - Banshee. Protagonist Lucas Hood is actually a thief who has served more than 15 years in prison. A chance meeting with a real servant of the law in a bar pushes him to a certain decision - to take the post of sheriff after the police officer was killed, also by coincidence. Hood soon meets his beloved and her daughter, recognizing himself in the rebel. The new lawyer met with the real ruler of the city, keeping the young mayor on a leash, all this time trying to restore order in a new place.
Unlike the ordinary criminal project, the actors of the Banshee series have several facets at once, no one can truly say their innocence and even simpletons can actually turn out to be skillful manipulators. Therefore, the development of events and the adventure of the protagonist is interesting to follow. The criminal is not constrained in choosing the means to achieve order in the Banshee; he is forced to break the law, and sometimes resort to violence. As a result, he is so well accustomed to the role that he becomes the only center of legality in the city.
Gradually, the protagonist draws closer to her former partner and mistress Aene, better known as Anastasia. In Banshee, she is an exemplary wife and mother, but in fact is the missing daughter of the Ukrainian crime boss Rabbit, whom Hood once worked for. Together they have to save the city from their former employer, radical Indians, killers, Nazis and drug dealers. However, criminals do not change - along the way, companions rob more than one “caravan” passing through the Banshee.
Heroes and actors
Actors of the Banshee series, whose photo is located above, are the main backbone of the project. The backstory of the series itself is quite ordinary, and the topic of confrontation by choosing a lesser evil is perhaps the most popular cliche in Hollywood, however, the actors' live game allows us to believe that what is happening on the screen may actually happen. The protagonist is brutal, cruel and cynical, his image perfectly combines with the guard of order, "who is not afraid to get his hands dirty." The image of the antagonist is remembered by itself. It is original and interesting. A native of the Amish religious community, who rejected the sublime and plunged into the secular, full of pleasures: sex, up to incest, drugs and power.
The remaining characters are in no way inferior in relevance to the primary composition. The background of the Banshee actors in the image of the heroes of the picture literally shines with color. At the service of the viewer is a repentant felon boxer, who played the role of the mentor of the protagonist; the silent sociopath protecting the main villain even from himself and devoted to them as a result; a thief mother who is ready to kill for her child; a police officer who risked falling in love with her boss and part-time thief and impostor. A stunning bouquet filled with thoughtful dialogues, successful and emotional scenes full of humor, sarcasm, vivid phrases and subtext.
Lucas Hood
The protagonist is a policeman and a half-time thief. I am sincerely concerned about the only true motive - my well-being. Later, he assumes the role of father and legalist, gradually changing for the better, not without the help of his friends. The main bastion of justice in Banshee, knocking out criminal elements from the city with the help of a strong word, muscles and a shotgun. The role of such a tough guy went to Anthony Starr, a New Zealand actor, previously a little-known world audience. The actor did an excellent job, Hood remained in the memory of everyone who watched the series as a multifaceted and complex image.
Anastasia (Carrie Hopewell)
After Hood betrayed his accomplices, she broke all ties with the criminal past and settled in the Banshee, where her former lover finds her. She lived a respectable citizen for 15 years, having married a regular “white collar”. Over time, he returns to the old industry, and then to feelings towards the protagonist. The role was played by Ivan Milechevich, an actress of Serbian origin, involved in a number of additional projects, including the series “Gotham”, “Eastwick”, “Casino Royale”.
Kai Proctor
Evil in the flesh, the main criminal authority of the Banshee, industrial tycoon and former Amish. He is sensitive to his mother, who keeps him in touch with former brothers in the community. Involved in the large circulation of drugs and their transit through the Banshee, he is opposed to the protagonist who is interfering with his business. The role of the antagonist went to Ulrich Thomson, known for playing in the “Time of the Witches”, “Centurion” and “The Kingdom of Heaven”. The actor perfectly got used to the role and fully revealed the character, demonstrating the real inside of the capitalist.
Job
One of the main characters of the series. The biography of the actors of the Banshee series in the vast majority of cases is connected with crime and is interesting in itself. Job is a professional hacker, talented fighter and transvestite. He likes to attract attention with his appearance, but in operations he prefers to remain in the shade. His role went to actor Hong Lee, who made his debut in the project on the stage of world cinema.
Clay Burton
Kai Proctor's right arm and bodyguard. With a chef he is associated with a relationship based on deep, almost dog-like devotion. Despite the fact that the hero is secondary, his image was remembered by all viewers and surpassed even Lucas Hood in popularity. Burton is calm, ruthless, he is a sociopath with the skills of a killer, ready to oppose a whole gang according to the first word of the owner. Such a colorful role went to Matthew Rauch, an unknown newcomer who nevertheless did an excellent job.
Chaiton littleston
One of the main opponents of the new sheriff. The actors and roles of the Banshee series are colorful and this character was no exception. He is the leader of several Kinaho renegades who consider the city of Banshee to be their own. His role was played by Gino Segers, a famous radio host in New Zealand.
The names of the Banshee cast became louder at the end of the projects. According to one of the show’s runners of the project, the picture ended on a “minor note” and left the television loudly, holding the attention of fans to the end. In many ways, this is the merit of the cast of the project. All characters look quite natural. Homosexuals, transvestites, killers and robbers evoke empathy, and the protagonist’s struggle for a place in the sun is understanding and sympathy.
