Biography
Boris Hristov comes from the family of the Bulgarian national revolutionary and social activist Kiril Sovichanov. His father is a native of Vardar Macedonia. The singing talent of the future opera singer was manifested in his youth, at the time of admission to the choir of the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. Since 1933, the young man was also a member of the male choir "Gusla".
Creation
Boris III, the Bulgarian king, in 1942 he heard the singing of Boris Christ in the cathedral. Being very impressed, he appointed the contractor a state scholarship for further training in this art. Boris Hristov from 1942 to 1945, with breaks, took lessons from Riccardo Strachchari. The Italian baritone taught him vocals.
In 1943, after the political regime in Italy changed, education was interrupted. The performer returned to Bulgaria. In 1944, he went to Germany to study the German opera repertoire, but he was arrested in Austria, and Boris turned out to be a prisoner of the internment camp. After his release, the singer went to Italy and continued to study with Strachchari.
In a concert he made his debut in 1945 in Rome, within the walls of the Academy of Santa Cecilia. Then Hristov performed several works from the Russian and Italian repertoire. Boris gave concerts at the Paris Champs-Elysees Theater, Carnegie Hall New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Albert Hall London, and the Musikferaine Vienna.
The singer did not perform in Russia. The peak of the artist's artistic career occurred in the fifties and the first half of the sixties of the twentieth century. In the seventies, Boris gradually reduced his performing activities. His last concert was in Rome in 1986.
