What would we do if you didn't discover Columbus America? The main treasure of the Aztecs, which the Spaniards exported to the Old World, was potatoes. Quite quickly, this root crop gained pan-European popularity. He even became a “second bread” in some countries. Despite the fact that in the XVIII century, Russian villagers hostile to the overseas “damn apple”, now without a potato our life is simply unthinkable. What nothing is prepared from it: soups, main dishes, side dishes and pies! But today we have a special lesson - we bake potatoes with cheese in the oven.

There are three main ways to prepare this extremely simple dish. The first is potatoes cut into slices on a baking sheet. The second - whole tubers in foil. And the third is potatoes stuffed with cheese in the oven. All of them give equally tasty results. Let's start with the first option. We clean a kilogram of potato, wash it, cut it into thin circles in a centimeter of thickness. Put in a deep bowl, add two or three tablespoons of mayonnaise, salt, pepper and mix. Lubricate the pan with sunflower oil. We spread the potatoes in it with a not too thick layer. On top of it is three hard cheese (approximately 200 g). Cover the pan with a piece of foil.
We bake potatoes with cheese in the oven for half an hour at a temperature of 170-180 ° C. Then we remove the aluminum cover and let it brown for another ten minutes. Sprinkle the finished dish with chopped fresh herbs. Depending on what else you put in the baking sheet (meat, mushrooms, fish, garlic, onions, sour cream), the taste of the resulting product will also depend.
Here's a more sophisticated
baked potato and cheese recipe. Peel the tubers, cut into circles. We turn on the oven at 180 ° - it should be well heated at the time the pan is sent there. In a saucepan, mix potato plates, pepper, salt and 100 g of grated cheese well. Shake the egg in two glasses of milk until smooth. Cut the clove of garlic along and carefully rub it with the bottom and walls of the pan. Now the time has come for vegetable oil - moisten the sides of the mold with it. We spread the workpiece and fill it with egg-milk mixture.
Bake potatoes with cheese in the oven for 45 minutes until cooked. We check it with a toothpick. After that we take out a baking sheet, sprinkle another 100 g of grated cheese and set it to bake for 10 minutes.
The next method is the easiest. Wash and clean the tubers, rub them with salt and sunflower oil, wrap tightly in foil. Bake until cooked at 200 ° C. We check it by piercing the foil with a toothpick. We take out, carefully unfold the sheets. Cut the tuber in half. Inside, put a thin slice of cheese. Again we wrap in a sheet. Bake potatoes with cheese in the oven for about five minutes.
Stuffing tubers will take a little more time and effort, but the result will be excellent. You can come up with a variety of fillings - canned fish, sausage, chopped eggs and even salads. If you have any cheese salad at your disposal, it is best to simply boil whole tubers in their uniforms, then cut them lengthwise and take out the middle with a spoon. Put the filling in the hole. You can do otherwise. Stuff raw tubers - and only then bake potatoes under cheese in the oven.
