Can moles be removed?

If you meet a person on whose body there is not a single mole, then you have encountered an alien. Since all earthly inhabitants are “marked” with these specks. Some have a lot of them, while others have few. Some are unhappy with the way moles are reflected in their appearance, while others, on the contrary, would not refuse a flirty “fly” over their lips, and the third does not care at all about these marks. The latter, perhaps, are the majority, but it happens that some mole begins to cause its owner certain inconveniences: either it is rubbed with clothes, then it starts to change color or shape. And then a person asks a logical question: is it possible to remove moles?

Let's first understand what it is all about - moles. Doctors call them pigmented nevus. Among human cells, there are those that are responsible for the production of a specific pigment - melanin, on which the color of the skin depends. They are called melanocytes. When such cells accumulate together, they form a mole.

An ordinary mole is a small spot, up to half a centimeter in diameter, slightly raised above the surface of the skin. Its color and bulge depends on how deep the nevus cells lie in the skin layer. In a harmless “calm” mole, the texture repeats the skin pattern, the color is uniform, often hairs grow straight through it without hindrance. All this indicates the absence of any anomaly.

It is worthwhile to be anxious and wonder if moles can be removed if the mark appeared in adulthood where it was not there before. You should pay attention to changes in the “old” moles, if suddenly one of them begins to quickly increase or change color, the skin pattern on its surface will change even “glossy” coating or incomprehensible knotted formations, hairs will fall out. All this is a behavior suspicious for a nevus, which may indicate that it develops into melanoma. Among the “bad” symptoms are also any changes in shape, redness of the surrounding area, wetting of the surface or bleeding. But when it dries, the mole can sometimes just fall off on its own, but it’s safer to consult a specialist in this case as well.

Inflammation, fraught with the transformation of a harmless spot into an ominous tumor, can be triggered by physical exposure. So, if a person injured a mole, he needs to see a doctor immediately.

In general, with cases where any pathology is observed, everything is clear - you should not take risks, they do not joke with oncology. Is it possible to remove moles for aesthetic reasons, or when they simply interfere - say, they constantly rub? In general, of course, you can - modern medicine even has several effective methods for this. But this operation should be preceded by a consultation of a dermatologist, and ideally, a dermo-oncologist. The study of the nevus will be useful not only to exclude oncology, but also to choose the method of removal. Indeed, in one case, electrocoagulation is enough - instantly cutting off the mole with a high-frequency current with simultaneous “sealing” of skin areas, and in the other, the surgeon will need to take up the scalpel. Do not be alarmed - both of these operations are performed under local anesthesia and are not difficult. But with large moles, the situation is not so simple - a laser or liquid nitrogen is already used here, and such procedures may have contraindications, which is why preliminary consultation is needed.

You can get one piece of advice right now. To the question of whether moles can be removed on their own, there are three possible answers: no, no way, no way. No extrusions, twisting, moxibustion and other tricks! And healers do not need to apply either, and why, when there is certainly a graduate in every city.
