Rowan jam is a simple and healthy preparation for the winter. Make it possible for any housewife, especially since the berry is cheap enough or you can pick it yourself from trees that grow in the forest or in summer cottages. Rowan jam - a classic recipe

The only drawback of the berry is that it is extremely acidic, so you need to collect it after the first frost, then sugar will go to the harvest much less. And for cooking you will need:

  • a kilogram of mountain ash;
  • 300 ml of clean filtered water;
  • kilogram of granulated sugar.

To get rid of possible bitterness, wash the berry, and then soak it for a day in plain water. Sort and blanch in boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain, place the berries in a basin or cooking pot. From the specified amount of water and sugar, boil the syrup, strain, pour in the mountain ash and boil for a quarter of an hour. Then the mountain ash jam should be infused for half a day, and only after that you can bring it to readiness. It is simple to check it - scoop up a little liquid, pour it on a flat plate and see if it spreads, cook a little more, if not, you can remove it from the stove and pack it in jars.

Rowan jam: recipe with apples

For a pound of berries you will need:

  • 1 or a little more than a kilogram of granulated sugar;
  • a pound of sweet apples;
  • 400 ml of clean drinking water.

Wash the berries, if desired, soak for a day to remove the bitterness, and then boil them in boiling water for 10 minutes. Peel the apples, cut into slices or cubes, as you prefer. Blanch them in hot water for a couple of minutes. Cook the sugar syrup from the amount of ingredients indicated in the recipe, let it boil a little, and then dip the berries and apples into it at the same time. Cook jam from mountain ash for 8-10 minutes, then let stand for 10-12 hours, and again boil no more than a quarter of an hour. Done - put in sterilized jars, roll up the lids and store in a cold and dark place.

This preparation is not only very tasty, but also extremely healthy. In winter, you can dilute a spoonful of jam in warm water and have a drink - a dose of vitamins and nutrients contained in the berry and honey will support your immunity and prevent a cold. Prepare:

  • 2 cups of plain filtered water;
  • kilogram of frozen red mountain ash.

Put the berries in cold water and let them thaw. Combine honey with water and boil, then put mountain ash in the solution and cook until tender. Again, boil is not necessary, this jam is done in one step. So simply and quickly you can replenish the supply of delicious homemade preparations for the winter - compotes or fruit drinks made from mountain ash will be an excellent alternative to juice from packages.
