An ideal figure, pointe shoes with ribbons, chic costumes for ballet, tours, ovations and a sea of flowers ... All this is a dream, probably, of any girl. Someone is inclined in favor of a career as a model, and someone dreams of dancing, devoting his life to professional ballet.
The survey showed that about 40% of people talk about ballet as dancing on tiptoe, the same number consider ballet dancing on toes, and only 20% of those polled said that it was a pointe dance. "Pointe" is translated as "point" or "point". Indeed, if every contact of the ballerina's toes with the floor could be drawn, then we could observe a dotted line of dots. Ballerinas, like air fairies, soar above the stage, and it seems that the
force of gravity does not affect them at all. But no one knows what such lightness and grace is worth.
The legs of a ballerina can not even be compared with the feet of experienced athletes involved in running and jumping. They are so resilient, so stiff that when touched they seem even unnatural. And this is understandable: the ballerina's legs should be strong and sturdy, because the entire weight of the dancer, practically everyone admires her beauty, rests on an area of a couple of square centimeters (the size of the “five-point” pointe shoes).
But the ballet only fascinates the viewer, behind the scenes and in the halls where rehearsals take place, everything looks different. This is a tough, even cruel reality.
The ballerina's legs are subjected to many injuries and torture. Especially frequent injuries in ballet are sprains, fractures, dislocations, damage to the ligaments of the joints. The largest percentage of ballet injuries occurs in the area of the hip joints, the consequence of which is a complex of problems that entails inflammation in the pelvis.
There is no need to have a scientific degree to calculate the pressure force of a ballerina weighing 50 kg over an area of 2 centimeters. This is the power hidden by the chiseled legs of a professional ballerina.
Among dancers there is such a thing as “breaking up”. These are violent stretch marks of the ligaments of the foot (its upper part). Most of the girls in order to stretch the lift, palm rollers under the fingers. Thus, an unnatural excess is obtained, but, as you might imagine, this does not lead to good consequences. The ligaments that work during stretching are stretched and even often torn, the ligamentous apparatuses of the feet become loose and weaken.
With age, the legs of the ballerina easily tuck, especially when jumping or running. Arthritis, thrombophlebitis, arthrosis ... All these are concomitant diseases of ballet art, a terrible payment for beauty. Moreover, not every dancer, having retired (by the way, at a very young age), can afford to wear open shoes due to deformed feet.
But behind-the-scenes tragedies do not end there. About incomprehensible diets and fierce competition to speak generally not accepted. Another shadow side of beauty is PT disease, nervous breakdowns, tears, disappointments ...
Thousands of girls come to ballet, but few become real stars. Many, unable to withstand the stress and tremendous loads, leave in the first months ...
