Sulfur ointment is a classic treatment for scabies. Despite the fact that scabies is a disease of people leading an asocial lifestyle, today it is very common and is increasingly found among people leading a normal lifestyle. Scabies is also found in children's groups and is usually treated very difficultly and for a long time. The disease is transmitted sexually, as evidenced by the frequent combination of scabies with various sexually transmitted diseases. In addition to sulfuric ointment, Benzo scabies ointment is also popular, however, in this article we will focus on the first, method of its use, indications and contraindications.
Sulfur ointment for scabies is produced in Russia, and, as you might guess, its main active ingredient is sulfur. The drug is available in the form of a gray ointment (33% for adults, from 5% to 10% for children). It was created specifically for the treatment of parasitic skin diseases. After applying sulfuric ointment to the skin, sulfur interacts with certain organic substances. As a result of this process, sulfides and pentathionic acid are formed, which has an antiparasitic and antimicrobial effect.
Sulfur ointment against scabies can be applied in two ways. According to the first, the ointment is rubbed for five days at night. Rub the consistency for 10 minutes into the skin of the whole body, except for the head and face. With special zeal, it is necessary to rub the ointment in those places where rashes are most likely to appear (wrists, hands, stomach and elbows). A day after the last use of the ointment, you need to wash the whole body with soap, change bedding and underwear, everyday clothes. The ointment is rubbed until warm and remains overnight. In the morning, all ointment is washed off the skin and reapplied in the evening.
The second method is more complicated and takes longer. On the first day, ointment treatment is carried out, followed by the use of clean linen. The second and third day, the remnants of the ointment are not washed off the skin, but a new ointment is not rubbed. On the fourth day, you need to wash yourself with soap and rub the remaining ointment again, as on the first day, with the same change of all the laundry. After treatment, hands should be washed only after three hours and treated with ointment after each wash. Wash off sulfuric ointment from scabies from the skin is necessary on the fifth day of treatment. In places where the skin is more tender, the ointment is rubbed gently.
Note that some side effects may occur, the most common of which are various allergic reactions. In addition, the skin may peel off. Contraindication to use - individual intolerance to the drug and some skin diseases. This scabies ointment is not suitable for the treatment of children with chronic skin diseases and children under six years of age.
During treatment, the patient and family members must understand that it will be effective only when sharing all personal belongings and disinfection of the room.
People who have had to deal with treatment with this drug note that sulfuric ointment for scabies has its own advantages and disadvantages. The main plus is the low price and the ability to use sulfur in cases where other preparations for scabies are powerless or ineffective. Disadvantages: five-day therapy, the inability to apply ointment to the face, as well as with some existing infections. Many people think that ointment treatment is very problematic: you canβt wash, the acute smell of sulfur is in the home, the inability to completely wash clothes after sulfur.
Attention! This note is intended solely for preliminary acquaintance with the drug, therefore, it is necessary to use it only after examination and consultation with a dermatologist.
