It also tells how to keep this valuable vitamin product in its pure form, without adding additional ingredients.
How to harvest cranberries with sugar for the winter
For the preservation of whole berries, the sterilization method is usually used. Pure fruits after mixing with sugar are placed in jars and placed in a container with cold water. Warming up gradually, cranberries let in juice, which fills the free space between the berries. After brief sterilization, close the jars carefully and tightly with lids, then place them in a cool place.
Is it possible to keep berries in their pure form?
Typically, cranberries are mixed with sugar for storage. The proportions of the ingredients can be completely different - from an equal amount of components to the minimum use of sugar. It turns out that due to their bactericidal properties, these vitamin berries can be stored for a long time and without mixing with additional products. There can be several ways:
- Pour unwashed freshly picked cranberries into dry cans or plastic bottles (always clean), filling them “to the eyeballs”, but not tamping with it. Seal containers tightly with iron or any other lids and store in a cool place.
- Fold the washed and washed berries in small plastic containers and fill with cold water. You can store such blanks in the refrigerator for up to 1-1.5 months.
- After washing, fold the cranberries into a colander to drain the liquid. Then put the berries in jars and pour freshly squeezed juice. Warm the jars by sterilizing in hot water for 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the volume of the containers.
Cranberries grated with sugar
Carefully sort and wash the berries. Then drop them into boiling water for blanching for 5 minutes. Discard the mass in a colander (with small holes) and let drain water. After cooling, grind the berries in a puree through a sieve. Mix the resulting mixture with sugar, taking it 700-800 g per 1 kg of fruit. Arrange the mashed potatoes in small jars and sterilize for 10-15 minutes. Successfully harvested in this form is not only fresh or boiled cranberries with sugar (for the winter), but also without it. To do this, grated mashed potatoes before boiling and sterilizing, boil for several minutes over low heat.
